The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

Shoot! I hadn't stopped by in here for a couple of days so I had missed grogimus grogimus posts. FWIW, I'm one of those who has been lighting a match up Grog's kindle arse to get something going via a vis the pocket carry sheaths for the EDCs (both CPK and the the 2.7) because I felt that there was a demand for it and our Lad Grog was falling behind to certain characters whose names I shall not mention. Plus, despite the fact that I currently own 4 Grog made sheaths (one was very kindly a gift and the others may have been for what meager sum he charged me for them) I,m looking forward to getting some of the newer lines with the Gypsy/UGH Makers Mark.

Now upon reflection, I'm debating as to whether I'm just striking a match up his big hairy arse or am I actually kissing his fat arsch?!

I had 7 apricot trees when I bought this house, I'm down to 4 but they still carpet the yard in apricots every year. Which would be great except I can't stand apricots. I've thought about making apricot wine but I remember distilling stuff with dad when I was a kid and the yeast addition was very inexact and I figured I'd never get a feel for it. I've been reading up and according to some articles from Dr. Google apricot skins naturally possess some yeast (I knew they were nasty) and as long as the skins aren't washed no yeast needs to be added. Here's to making hooch out of stuff in the yard!

Here is some free advice Grog. Fermenting with fruit, especially with wild cultures, can be pretty variable.
If you freeze the fruit before you ferment it you will get better extraction, and the fruit should be chopped or ground finely.
If you want consistent results consider cooking the fruit to sterilize it and then adding a pure culture of cider yeast.
If you like a clear cider you'll need to filter it before bottling.
On the other hand if you like to live on the edge and want the authentic pioneer experience then stomp those suckers in a bucket and let nature have her way. :)

No apricot picking for booze research today unfortunately, I was being all productive and stuff.

An old version 4.1 sheath. I tried block dyeing for the first time, I think it came out good.

And another 2.7 sheath with a different type of pocket clip that I like much better.

They've just had their first coat of finish, they'll be getting a few more rounds of that buffed in tonight. Not a bad day's work. I was hoping to finish these and fill up my beer fridge's freezer with apricots but that'll be another day.

Just got my shipping notice for a 7/7 and 4.1, both seconds, while I was checking in with this forum no less.:D
Spread that love in their respective threads, if you get a chance. More 4.1s are getting shipped, but I know there's some 7/7 guys getting anxious.

Also, congratulations! Are both knives shipping together? What a day that will be!

I'll definitely get pics in their threads when they show up. They were ordered at the same time and looks like they'll come in that way too. I'm guessing Friday, maybe Saturday. I have the day off on Friday so I'm hoping that's the day.

This must be a hoax! According to everyone in whine and cheese the knives will never be made.

I truly hope that having this new company making the SK series floods the shipping lanes with SKs and shuts up all the haters.
