The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

Got bored so I decided to reprofile my 2Hawks Longhunter today. It shaves hair and bites DEEP into green wood.

Mirror polished convex is so pretty!

I love this Tomahawk.

Nice! nothing beats a good convex edge. I always felt that they were the most durable and anything I've ever put a convex on has held up better then then same blade in a V edge or a scandi. I love the way a scandi edge cuts but they just don't hold up well enough for my liking and a damaged scandi edge is a PITA to fix because of the sheer amount of metal you have to remove to fix it.

Did anything ever happen with the "Nick Johnson" paracord wrapped gso 5? There is one up on facebook.
I was wondering about this the other day! Unless there's some tragic circumstance we don't know about, I hope that guy suffers for his crimes......... like every day as soon as he finishes tying his shoes he realizes that his socks are just crooked enough to feel it and annoy him all day long.

Very nice! Tomahawks are very appealing to me. Origins, popular culture, practicality... all very cool. In the next week I might be getting some outdoorsy stuff and I was thinking of starting a Gear and Tools used by SURVIVORS! thread. A spot to talk about backpacks and boots and stoves and water filters and multitools and axes AND tomahawks. If you're REALLY bored and like the idea, feel free to do it for us :D

You are very cruel!

This is an excellent idea! Would love to see what everybody is using in the field.

Hey Survivor!s

Not sure where to post this question, and haven't found anything by searching, but I am curious about custom handles for S! knives. Does anyone do any stabilized, wood handles to dress up their S!K blades. Just curious if anyone has modded theirs. I realize S!K are more outdoor/bushcraft style, and a pretty piece of wood may be out of place. But you have to admit, they are some darn nice looking blades, and a nice piece of curly Koa might look good on one.

Anyone?

There has been only a handful of people who I've seen that have made scales for their gso blades. We should start GSO MOD thread for those who have made any modifications to their blades.

Someone on Facebook has made some wood scales, ironwood I think?

We have one!!! It's just buried deep somewhere :)

Texas,
check out the for sale section of Woodbarter.com Bog oak comes up now and again there.

I like the idea of a Mod thread... I love seeing what people come up with.

Hale storm has an awesome burlap scaled 3.5. It was my inspiration to do what I'm attempting.

If my first attempt works out good then I'll be doing my 4.5 when I get it. I just need to get off my duff. The wife's been wanting her own pistol lately so I been trying to hunt a good deal on one for her. If I do anything else with my gear before hers I might be in trouble. :)

nice job riz. I need an axe so bad, if survive doesn't offer one I just may acquire a loggerhead.

those wood scales are very cool, but I prefer g10 or micarta, even thunderstorm kevlar. wood has its place, just not on my blades, no matter how good it looks.

what are you looking to get for your wife Texas_T? I have been contemplating gettin mine either a sig 226 or glock 19. she want an ar-15 but she already has an ar-10 so I don't see the point and we don't own a 9mm, just s&w vtac .40 and a kimber custom 1911

I carry a 4 inch Colt .357 mag. She shoots it good but its framed a bit big for her hands. We were looking at a glock 19 or xd -9. She really likes the xd. My next two gun buys are an ar and xdm or glock. I prefer a .40 or a .357 SIG personally. But its hers and I'd much rather see her consistent on target.
