Not if you're a giraffe..
I loved my BOB, so much I had several variants of it....sold em all after getting into survive....Man these Survive! knives really spoil their owners! My TOPS BOB knife which is a very good knife by all accounts in the woodcraft community (that Scandi grind bites very nicely into many wood types and I certainly preferred it over my past ESEE 4 varieties) feels like a kid's knife in my hands after I have handled the GSO 5.1 in person!
Admittedly, I am not being entirely fair as perhaps the BOB is in the same size range of say a GSO 4.1 (maybe close enough?) but the weight feels wrong now as it feels butt heavy. This darn GSO 5.1 despite its weight and heft is perfectly balanced as compared to that smaller BOB. I am seriously thinking that I keep both GSO 5.1s I bought, yank my current listing after tomorrow and just dump my cheaper mid-sized knives as I am almost tempted not to use them any more!
With all that said, I still ordered an ESEE Junglas just because I was really sulking that I missed on the GSO 12 offering by sitting on my hands. With the ESEE Junglas, I am planning to strip its cr*ppy coating, sanding to smooth finish and then forcing a patina on it. The kind of fun experimentation / customization which I dare not do to any Survive! knives![]()
Love that place, if I hit the powerball it would be one of the first stops for me.
Interesting they had some ESEE's,, priced high but they had them.

I'd definitely drop some coin at the Cabelas, and Home Depot on the way home. Every time I go in either one of those places I see more stuff that I think I need than what I came in for. I'd never come home with a paycheck if I worked there...
I can't find the youtube thread!
EDIT: Found it![]()
