Little distraction.

Looks like a good time, Grog! I've seen some really ugly 4.1s out there. The worst being the one Riz revived after a youtube guy destroyed it. The one you have performed impressively after the thinning and modifying. Nice try stick as well.

Always love seeing the pup!

Hey Grog, If you ever decide you want to regrind that joker hit me up. I can convex the entire flat of the knife. It ends up similar to a Bark River Bravo 1 grind. It seems like your knife is still useable, but if you ever chip out the edge or roll it real bad or just want it cleaned up, I am here for you.

Thanks for sharing Grog! Looks like you had a good time.

Posts like this make me nervous to try my hand at sharpening my 5.1. I feel good enough on my edge pro to do my inexpensive kitchen knives, but the 5.1? Last thing I need is a video going up of Riz! fixing my shoddy work. Lol.

Don't let yourself over think it or worry too much.

The job that Riz had to recover was pretty extreme. Riz could tell you more, but I think the original owner spent quite a bit of time trying to think down the edge free hand. If you're just sharpening the regular way and are trying to keep the factory angles, I think you'd be fine. I should look up the sharpening thread that's buried somewhere. There are plenty of guys who are really good at it and I'm sure you could get enough information to feel safe before doing it. I believe in you :D

Yeah, you are probably right. I might have tried it already if I hadn't screwed up the tip of my favorite ZT last year. i didn't realize I was doing it until too late, but I was rolling the stones off the tip of the blade while using the edge pro. The tip now has a very steep angle and is more like an ice pick now. [emoji26]

Come to think of it, if anyone has an idea how to repair it, I'd be grateful. I've thought about contacting ZT just to see how much a replacement blade might be.

Oof, sorry to hear about the tip of that ZT. Definitely ask enough questions so you feel comfortable working on your GSO!

I don't know how easy this is to see with these pictures. It doesn't look that bad in the photo but I feel like I'd have to remove quite a bit of steel to restore the angle on the tip.

A few more sharpenings and that will work its way out. I was going to suggest very gently dropping the spine but you have a blackwashed blade. If you do, it will remove the blackwash for about the first 1/2 an inch. I have done it with a knife or two. One of my buddies hade a spyderco native that he broke about 1/8 inch off of the tip. I sharpened it, reprofiling the tip up and then removed some steel bringing the spine down. When I gave it back to him he was shocked. Because it was a small piece of the tip he couldnt notice the slightly shorter blade. He made the comment that it looked like I put more metal on the blade!

Lol, I suppose. I had to cut the sleeve out of one of my work shirts to get her out. Good thing she's cute as hell, I would have been ticked off otherwise.

Thanks Riz! I guess it's not as bad as I think.

Dude! I just saw this video on YouTube.

Something changed with my phone in the last few months because it won't let me imbed stuff the way I used to do it before.

John Wick 2 is out now and I'm really itching to see the first as well as the second.

I saw the first one about a month ago and will definitely see the second eventually. The first was definitely a movie I enjoyed along the vein of "Boondock Saints". I really enjoyed the camera-work, although the film feels a lot like a first-person-shooter on "easy", SO MANY HEAD-SHOTS. Indeed, I saw this "Honest Trailer" just under a week ago, and it is on point:

Spoiler-warning
