The "Talk me out of it" thread

I've been lusting after a Steel Will Modus recently, just to try out D2.. if anyone would care to tell me what rubbish they are I would be grateful.
Can’t. Great knife in D2. Buy one now.

You can trust my judgement... I got laid off 3 weeks ago and just bought a Benchmade Freek today cuz I need my number 90-ish Knife.

Looks like I'm a day late but I was going to say that I've heard that those triad locks sometimes exhibit a teensy bit of vertical play..can you imagine how irritating that would be? Anyway too late now.
I'll let you know in a couple weeks!

I'm not too sure about the traction pattern; seems like it might get old after awhile. How about the "semi-stainless" D2? Are you the sort who would keep your blade dry or oiled all the time, clean it off after cutting anything with any moisture?

How about similar knives in your collection. Does it add something that you don't already have covered? That's the bit that gets me to hold off. I lust after a knife, then realize I have another model already that's almost exactly like the one I'm lusting over.

There are a few comments about cheap handle feel:

Yeah that handle pattern does look a bit weird and cheapish, but I do like the look of the color contrast on the blue handled model with the orange colored backspacer.

The semi stainless wouldn't be an issue for me, I actually like a bit of discoloration on my blades. Gives them kind of a 'living' feel.

I've got two flippers in my collection but don't have any D2 steel, nor do I have any sheepsfootish style blades so I guess I could justify the purchase for those reasons alone..
