I remember buying a near-identical knife to that when I was 16 Andi. Don't know if it was an Otter, but it was Solingen-made, of the same design and had the fleur-de-lys. It was a great knife. I gifted it to a close friend a couple of years later.

So perhaps the one you gave me wasn't my first Otter afterall

Jack, this design was very common here for pathfinder knives in the past. The HJ (Hitler Yough) used the same design. It seems to like the 89K-Bajonett is inspired by this design. Nowadays the germam boyscouts (Pfadfinder) use them for there general knife, as far as I know.

Thanks for the reply Andi. Do you know when the design dates from? Nice that the Scouts can still carry a fixed-blade knife there. Here I doubt many even have SAKs, very sad.

We´ve had a beautiful autumn afternoon today - slighty warm weather and no wind and rain.

I just came back from a walk - some impressions (of Bavaria on a sunny day )
