The TRADITIONAL sunday picture show!!!!

Charlie - give me the specifics please. I have to work 8-9 DEC, but I need a reason to get down to Portland other than Powell's and beer. Any other weekend and I'll seriously consider it.

Had a really rough week but I would share a picture I shot with my phone.

Just back tonight from a week with family in Ohio and Indiana. Snapped these shots of my recently rehandled boyhood Colonial at the railroad two houses up the street from where I grew up.

Here is my Case ('74 or '75) Hawkbill. This is the first trip to the woods after the restoration. Cut the bone from pet store cow shin bone, hand jigged, and dyed with rit dye. Learned alot and made a big mess. It turned out well though in my opinion. Nathan

The Oregon knife show in April is the BEST!! Officially the show is the Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th, 2013.
Members can attend on the Friday which is set-up day. Some of the best horse trading occurs on Friday, in the line waiting for it to open!!
I recommend becoming a member and going early.

Thank you Robin.
I used a simple electrolysis rig to remove the rust from the blade. It worked very well. As you can see in the picture the blade is very pitted but I think the knives were put away brand new as there was no wear on the tang/spring contact area and tons of blade left. As far as the jigging goes, I used a dremel grinding stone that was reshaped on a grinding wheel. It was too pointy so I ground the point off and then went at it some more. Before jigging and dying the bone I had to cut and make slabs. If you have not tried this before, learn from my mistake. Do it outside!! I wore a respirator of course but it made a large powder cloud that stunk the shop up like burning hair for three days. Fun times. This knife was a definite learning experience and I can’t wait to do it again. I will for sure look at some of the masters for inspiration on the next jigging try.
Thank you again for the kind words.
