The Ugly Knife Thread

Hhhmm I actually like them. It's almost like how you can love an ugly dog. These are 52100 and made from ball bearing races. They take and hold that aggressive edge and they're pretty useful in the kitchen. The smith who made these used the most basic equipment. It was actually I who suggested the HT protocol which he resisted at first. Heat until non-magnetic then quench. Then temper down a bit. Seemed to have worked good. :)

Thanks, very interesting!

MY EYES! What the hell is that thing?

Its NIVES, not wives KOD...Nives...

Holy! What the? Is that a warncliff or all belly? I can't even tell.

This is an emergency egress cockpit canopy breaker. The blade is used to cut yourself out of your straps; this type of tool was used as far back as WWII, found on virtually all jets through the 70's, and was standard equipment on the AH-1. Dang ugly ain't she?:D

Smith and Wesson CKTACB -

My son gave me this knife several years ago.

It was a very nice gesture on his part.

Luckily, it did not last long, the pivot end cracked through after a couple of years.

Hahahahahah! I have this same junker, and I could 2nd this! I credit this (and another S&W) for my entire motivation for getting better knives! Without experiencing how terrible those knives were, I would have never ended up with the beautiful blades I have now. My friend says it looks like a seahorse LOL!

If you have spent any time on this forum, you will have been exposed to some of the most beautiful knives ever produced, whether it be a modern CAD/CAM design, handmade, factory production, and customs; traditional, modern, folders, fixed blades, multi-tool, etc. Well, now it's time to show us your ugly knives...you know, the ones you leave in the barn year round, buried in a drawer full of junk, the bottom of a bucket filled with nuts and bolts, or simply lost in your safe. Let's see them.

Some knives don't need to be left in a barn year round, buried in a drawer full of junk, the bottom of a bucket filled with nuts and bolts, or simply lost in the safe to make my ugly list. Here's one that makes my list and it hasn't even been released yet:

I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I should also note that the company that manufactures this knife is a quality company as well as one that makes what I consider to be the most beautiful production folder in the world. But it sure isn't this knife . . . at least it's not for me.

Now don't get me wrong - I love this knife as it was a gift from one of my Grandsons. He thought it was really cool and then bought it for me. $10 according to his Mom. How can you not love a knife obtained that way?

Still, it fits the subject matter of the thread, I think. ;)

This thread is still young

Just wait till someone throws up a Roadie picture:rolleyes:

"But there's a REASON it looks so ugly! And I don't think it looks all that ugly anyway!" (Translation: I'm going to force myself to like it because......spyderco!)

I kid, I kid. Please don't kill me
