I am aware that there has been posts of similar charecter before on this forum. However i believe that most of these posts ended up talking about one movie only.

So what do you think is the ultimate Knife movie?
Why is it so?
And finally what knives were used?

I will just start by throwing in a couple of examples;

1. The Rambo movies. (During all three movies a knife is the primary weapon used by the Hero)

2. Under siege 2. (There is very nice lineup of knives in this movie: Gerber MK Dagger (I or II), a MT-UDT and a knife from Mad-dog, not quite sure which one)

I have to agree as far as the rambo movies. In part two he even refers to his knife as a good luck charm. Not to mention that I think the rambo series had a big part in spawning my love of knives.
Raindeer games features a microtech halo with a shiny metalic handle. Also the outsiders and the breakfast club and stand by me made me love Italian style switches. or how about falling down for balisongs. young guns for the navahoe with all the knives or the crow. there are so many but rambo has to be the most influental on me. also cobra has a pretty nice blade in it. please excuse my spelling just got back from the bar.

While they probably weren't the "ultimate knife movies," I loved the knives in Young Guns I & II. Can't really say what they were, haven't seen anything like them anywhere else. There was a bowie (I think) knife with a double ringed guard that was used by Chavez (Lou Diamond Phillips) that I just loved. He also had a double bladed knife in Young Guns II that he used in a knife fight with Arkansas Dave (Christian Slater) who used a bone handled bowie knife. This is one of my favorite knife scenes of all time--where Arkansas Dave stabs Chavez through the forearm during the fight and Chavez asks him, "you want your knife back?" I love that scene.

"The Edge" knife from the movie with the same title. Not a beastslayer but definitely the most desirable to me.

While it's no-where near being "The ultimate knife movie", I like the movie Big Trouble In Little China, as the "hero" (Kurt Russell) uses a Gerber Tac II knife that he never seems to lose, and sometimes carried in his teeth like a pirate.:).

Ultimate Knife flick IMHO is Cyborg. Van Damme isn't the best actor but the fighting is great! I can name all of the knives too:) Really annoys folks trying to watch it with me.

Cyborg was certainly one of my favorite knife throwing movies, but come on you guys... Do a search for EXPOSURE (Walter Salles Director), 1991, Peter Coyote and Amanda Pays, a "B" movie all about knife fighting in South America! It doesn't get more "knife" than that!

Lou Diamond Phillips uses similar knives in the Big Hit also. Angelina Jolie handles a bit of cutlery in Tomb Raider. Jeff Imada does a much better bali manipulation in Big Trouble in Little China than the one in Falling Down. There's the knife throwing assassin in Desperado. DeNiro is a literal knife nut in the Fan. Nobody has figured out exactly what knife was used in Mission Impossoble (looks nothing like a Bokermatic, IMO) Val Kilmer has the ultimate SAK in the Saint. Russell Crowe gets the job done with a multitool in Proof of Life. Payback also had some bali work. Van Damme has a knife fight in Timecop. Under siege had that totally unrealistic fight scene (but Seagal NEVER gets hit/cut in anything) Bowie/hawk by Gibson in the Patriot. Hannibal loves his Spydercos. That's enough for now, I guess :D

Darnit, also any 'slasher' film (ie Halloween) The Mummy and Returns. Dune. I'm really going to stop now.

Matthew hit the nail on the head withExposure. You see a Spydrco Police Model, a Randall 14, an Applegate-Fairbain, and many other cool looking knives on a table from the knife "dealer". What a great movie.

Training Day convinced me to get an all stainless Spydie, but my vote goes to The Edge for fave knife movie. Honourable mentions go to Crocodile Dundee and the TV series MacGyver.Any one else ever notice that there always seems to be an interesting blade featured in every Paul Hogan movie?

There is a really cool French movie called Le Pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) that has some outstanding knife sequences!

"The Edge" gets my vote also. The small (custom?) folder is a key player in the script. Not all that flashy, but very important.

I hope that I am not the only one (age???) who remembers the movie "WAIT UNTIL DARK" with Alan Arkin and Audrey Hepburn?

I think it came out in the late 1960's.

He had a name for that knife......

The Ultimate Knife Movie has to be "The Iron Mistress" after 50 years it's still getting articles about it in Blade magazine. I've heard it's the movie responsible for starting more knife makers. I know it inspired my favorite makers dreams.

I think the Edge is important also, heck it was the title character. It also happens to be one of the knives I'd really like to own.

Okay it's been driving me nuts for years. Can anyone tell me who made the knife used by Anthony Hopkins in The Edge?

Russell Crowe gets the job done with a multitool in Proof of Life.

I believe he used the serrated blade of a Leatherman Wave. Kind of strange, come to think of it, but a very cool scene nonetheless.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one--real flashy knife fight scene at the end.

And that Van Damme knife scene--he uses a Hibben Double Shadow, right? Not the most useful of knives, but I've always liked that one.

Exposure. IF you haven't seen it, rent it. And get Shogun Assasin while your at it. :)
