The (un)Official SDFK Thread

I would very much like to get one - but if there is an instance of me getting lucky and you missing out, I'll happily pass mine on to you. I have a HDFK already and I am kind of counting on the SDFK being a different enough knife to warrant wanting one to check out but I don't mind spreading the love if it comes down to it.

Within limits, of course. 😁
This forum is great, right on Dylan! You better believe I will be around trying every Friday when these go on sale!

I got the beveling set up ready but the carbide isn't really working right. I ordered different carbide and we'll put this in production soon.

The next step is the final trim out fixturing and programs. I leave a chunk of metal behind the primary grind to have a little more meat too hold onto for the beveling, and that little chunk of metal needs to get cut off and some chamfers.

Oh, that explains it ... for a second there I thought you were going with a bowie grind. 🤔

What are the differences between the two versions?

The basic SDFK will be like the basic five field knife. No jimping, no weight reduction skeletonizing, bare bones to keep price down for the Amazon crowd. The signature series has those signature features and a swedge to help offset the weight reduction in the handle to maintain balance and will be made to a somewhat higher standard like our regular work.
