People wanted a signature series and one of our signature characteristics are weight reduction through skeletonization. Even leaving it solid at the very butt, This window cut in the tang changes the dynamic of the knife where it no longer balances on the first finger but an eighth of an inch ahead which will make it tip heavy and unstable during changes in grip and use. I have to do something to take the weight out of the end or it won't handle right. So yeah, it may not play as well with a baton but, without a fuller, I feel that it needs something to remove the weight from the tip to get this back in balance.
I dont know about you guys but I'm starting to think this one is going to be popular
I’ve been steadily talking myself out of wanting this. Now look what you’ve gone and done, Nathan.
I believe he said they would, just like the BFK and FK2 use same scalesWill the scales be interchangeable with the hdfk?
Nathan the Machinist Would it be possible to have an option for slimmer/thinner handles? I remember some of the HDFKs had this option. I'm looking at the picture with the BFK and the handle on the SDFK looks a lot larger...
Thanks a lot!
C.

How close are y'all with getting these on the sales floor? Less than 2 weeks?
Any prices yet?
Enough time to get funds together as long as no long road trips are involved.I think we'll be ready to start heat treating some of them in about 2 weeks
Most of our customers (Chip excluded) prefer their knives hardened. So we're probably looking at end of August before we have some for sale.
Don’t you need one for boot carry, too?I'm going to need two of these. One for IWB carry and a second one as a neck knife. Can't wait!
The SDFK looks like it might be an even better "compact chopper" than the HDFK...
