The unofficial, non binding, carries no weight, 2020 forum knife possibility discussion thread

Given that Mike has mentioned that this will be part of a larger (current production) run and these knives aren't particularly hard to get hold of, the fact of a different scale and a 'bladeforums' mark on a Lionsteel is unlikely to have the flippers as excited about this. Why pay triple on the flipper market for the 'blade forums' tag when you can get a practically identical model either at the same time or from the next/previous run and it's not a limited collectors market such as the now defunct GEC SFO's?

As such I'd say it's worth supporting this concept just to give a middle finger to the flippers. :D

edit: my apologies wrong thread

Based on SKBlades email, it seems like Buck just doesn’t have the bandwidth to do a forum knife this year if they cannot do any special orders for a dealer like SK.

We all need to vote in the poll Mike has posted at the top of the main page.... you get two votes, but it appears you have to vote your two votes at the same time. Let's get this ball rolling!

Just received bad news from Stephen at SK Blades - no new Buck SFO’s until at least mid 2021. OH

That's a bit of a bummer. What is their reasoning? Is their manufacturing capacity down due to the virus and accompanying protection efforts?

The various lock downs around the world has made it tough to get materials for manufacturing.

That was the direction my thinking was going. I am not on SK's mailing list so wasn't sure if there were other factors. I really do hope that he and his family make it out ok - this virus has been really rough on a lot of folks.

Not wanting to clog up the new thread with hopes and dreams,I thought I'd air my thoughts here. I'm all for Lionsteel, I don't have any yet but they seem to be really well built knives. My only real question I would ask Lionsteel if I could, would be if they could use slotted screws instead of torx. I've mentioned it before when I've seen their knives posted here on the porch. Especially the sowbelly, some nice slightly domed slotted screws like you find on old classic firearms. It would make them different from standard production, while giving a more classic flair to the screw construction. Just my 2 mites worth.
