Thanks for filling us in on some of the story, Camillus Camillus !! I too, would like an authentic Bunny Knife, but my suggestion for GEC would be to use existing parts for us, hence the stretch to JackRabbit!!:D
They can be big critters! It would be interesting to hear from a "harvester" of said animals, as to what knife would be best for the actual use.
I'm not sure a wide blade, made by John Lloyd, posted by Sacto Sacto above would be a handy Rabbit knife; but I am a city slicker, having only skinned a couple deer in my life!!
Agreed. I’m not sure how it would be for dressing small animals, but it would look good doing it!

I've seen that knife before??? Where???
When you put it in a box and mailed it to me! ;):D

This is what I have seen referred to as a rabbit knife, which I think looks very cool. I think I have seen a couple other similar rabbit knives. Didn’t know if they were related to the bunny knife. It’s a John Lloyd, and it is not my picture, it belongs to @VCM3 (hopefully it’s okay to post).

This is a " Bunny Knife ". Unrelated, bunny knife is a generic term that was given to this style of knife because nearly everyone who hunted rabbits over here carried one. Hope this helps..

Thanks; I had some of those Bunnies for breakfast, also!!:D
I must admit I've hunted Strawberries, but no Bunnies!!:p

Ivory bone sounds great Charlie waynorth waynorth .:) Actually whatever cover would be ok. A spin off of a Bunny Knife would be just right too. Thanks! Oh, and one blade would be just fine. Why push it with Bill.

Often wondered what a Bunny Knife looked like. Seems that this Eric's Jack is in similar vein? Or even a Clip GEC 15 ?

Even if the 15 isn't like a legit BK that talk of Ivory Bone maturing is no exaggeration...

On reflection, I suppose the Bunny Knife would've been originally a Sheffield item that was exported to Australia where it found favour?

This Trevor Ablett might have similarities?

Hard to tell in that photo but I think it's more of a "curved" frame/handle. Opposite of a swayback.
That Ivory bone is beautiful!
Edit: That Ablett is a beauty and very similar to a bunny knife. imo

This is a gorgeous design.

Update: I called GEC today to talk to Bill about a BF knife, but he was very busy with Inventory today, so he asked me to call back in a day or two!
I want to discuss this at just the right time, so we wait a little longer!

On another speculative note, I thought of proposing to all you esteemed ladies and gentlemen the following, inspired by the Antipodean Bunny Knife!!View attachment 1527665 View attachment 1527666 View attachment 1527668
If GEC flipped the handle of the #93 (Lamb/Ram Foot) and added a Muskrat or California Clip, we could call it the "JackRabbit!!
IvoryBone handles would Cap it nicely!! (Wish I knew Photoshop!!:()View attachment 1527680
The Bunnies are 3 1/2" long, and the #93 would become a #39, 3 7/8", a stretch version!! Possibly using existing part designs??
What say you??o_O
Works for me Charlie !! I would probably order 3 of them .

That seems awfully similar to the GEC 14 run with 20 different SFO’s a couple years ago.

I think GEC is more likely to make a two blade mini trapper for us, if they make anything.
