The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

I have a two blade natural canvas on order. I don't have an 85 yet, and I love the shape. The dimpling on the pull is nice too. I really liked the patina on the 77 canvas barlows that started showing up months after release, and I hope I get a similar look on the 85.

That's what I have on order, too; and it will also be my first 85.

If the second blade was a caplifter, I'd just about have my grail knife.

A question for those who own both the 85 and 77 Barlows, How do these two compare in size and weight?
... If someone could provide some side by side pics, Id greatly appreciate it.
As you can see they are very similar in size and IMO weight.

Great looking 85s coming out of hiding from everyone! I am continually impressed with the range of covers that have been used on this pattern by gec, and really like the lineage of the pattern. Pertinux, I thought about that thread you liked to (as I think I posted in it myself a while back), but decided to try a separate new thread, with hopes that it will be used as a location to rekindle interest in posting 85s and other bullet Jacks, and hopefully chart the progress of the new releases, and also become a new 85 release photo thread as well. I love the momentum that the big 77 thread has gotten, so emulating that was my intention. Mods, if you feel we would be better served by merging the old thread with this one, I don't mind if you do. Either way, pretty exciting times ahead!
Thanks,
Brian

I also am interested in (and have a reservation for) the Scandi Ground blade. I love my Northwoods with the scale-on flat but wonder if this blade will be anything like that. I have noticed it makes it a tad easier to open a blade with the scale left on (much like a heavy patina will do as well).

I can't wait to see a production picture of the blade!

I have a 2b bloodwood and autumn gold reserved. The 2b 77 barlow run of smooth autumn had impressive covers.. dark Appaloosa like. Mike said this run of 85's in the smooth bone should turn out the same. I don't have any knives in bloodwood. On some knives bloodwood looks classy and I think it's a perfect fit on the 85.

D.B. Cooper- here's a couple more shots of 85's with 77's. It's a dark day here so they aren't the brightest pics. The size difference is pretty negligible on these, but the clip blade of the 85 sure does look a lot shorter than the 77!

One thing I like is the pen on the mark side, like the coffeehouse 85 has.

Clutch carter - That's an impressive collection!

There are some really great knives on here guys! I realize I need more acrylics! And more clip points!

A trio.....

This cocobolo #85 is my #1 goomba. It's in my RF pocket all the time. The fit in hand is perfection, the F&F is top notch....and I do love how the cocobolo has darkened considerably.

Having said that, I do have a 2 bladed antique yellow jig on reserve. Really looking forward to this one.

I only have a two blade cocobolo currently and have a single blade on pre-order. Really wish this run was more than just the SFO and a harness Jack was involved.

Im still wondering about the corset shield.
Does anyone have the skills to photoshop a corset shield on an 85 to get a preview of what i might look like??
