I really thought that there would be more posts aabout the Kershaw /R J Martin designed Volt. After the L---O---N---G wait for them to be available, I figured everyone would be talking about them.

I believe the total number of knives are in the 275 range, with some blems available, not sure of those number's. I was fortunate enough to get on a list this past October and I have one waiting for me at KW.com. I was also fortunate enough to pick up a blem Volt from 2 Brothers.

So sound off on the Volts!!

I believe there have been at least 4 threads in the last week.

I ordered one of the blems from a dealer, and it should be here on Wed. or so. I can't wait, every review has raved about it.

I'm not sure of the total numbers. When I say total, I mean total of both blem and non-blem.
I've seen a #280 blem so I know they went that far.
There were exactly 71 blems available. I think Jason (2BKC) only has 30 or so left.

Just for clarity, if you want one, go to the Dealer section and post in the Volt Blem thread.
That is 2BKC, my brother. I, 2brothers, do not have any Volts for sale. :)

What he said...:D

I have to agree with cutter though. I thought there would be a lot more commotion with the Volt. Especially after the hundreds of emails and PM's I have received on the subject.

I know what they mean when they say "The best kept secret..." now.

I just received my Volt #135, looks and feels like a $300-400 knife...Super fit and finish, superb job RJ and KAI....

I got number 271! I am very pleased with it, it does look like a higher dollar knife than it sells for however I am displeased with one detail on this knife. If you hold the knife closed with the pivot up, the top side of the titanium scale was not bead blasted! It is only the edge of the scale and only on one side but they forgot to bead blast that side. I'm really bummed because I waited so long for it and if I send it in I'll have to wait another week. I know that they will fix me up and make it all pretty and I probably will probably end up sending it in, but it is just kind of a buzz killer. Other than that though it is an excellent knife that I would definately recommend to anyone looking for a folder of that size.

im not sure what all the fuss is about this knife, i think it looks terrible to be honest.

It is personal preference... Personally i wouldn't buy some knives because i don't see what the point is either. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder i guess.

I ordered one b/c i dont think it was over priced, i like kershaw knives, and i think it looks awesome.

New steel, limited supply, quality build, made in USA, attention to detail (and there's alot of detail), inexpensive framelock that feels almost like an RJ Martin custom.

I am so excited to see the blems for sale. I can't wait to get my hands on that sucker.

Hi all, This is my first flipper and was wondering, if all flippers require a lil wrist action to open.

I also found out that a little to much flip will make it almost painfully difficult to close one handed with my thumb.

Any tips besides not snapping it open too forcefully, or is it just learning the proper technique.

TIA...:)

Like a lot of flippers, it probably has a little bit of a break-in before it flips as smoothly as it can...

Ive got one of RJs flippers an Overkill. No wrist action needed. Just remember

to keep your fingers on the clip. The knife doesnt need to be broken in. It

may take a little bit to get used to the flipper thou.

My Overkill has a very strong detent...once you get past the detent the

blade flips like a rocket:D.

That is not the case for my Volt, It will not open all the way with just the flipper like the other 4 smaller flippers I have.

I would loosen the pivot, but as noted by posters above, I have found when I did that on my other flippers once they broke in a bit I had to re-tighten the pivot. So I'm just gonna see if it breaks in.

Overall I think the quality is amazing. At the less than $200 price I paid I think its way more knife then say a Bradley or Sage II. I paid only a bit less for a Sage II, yet the Sage II has simple slab handles and is made in Taiwan. The Volt has very well done 3D contoured machined handles with a perfectly inset G10 inlay, that fancy blade and is made in the US. I can see why they only did a small run, probably too much work for the profit margin.

The bad news is the Volt has the most uncomfortable clip I have ever encountered. The end is sharp and digs right into the fleshy part of my palm. Ouch.

I got lucky, I did not pre-order. I placed and paid for the knife last Wednesday and received it Sat.

I would post a full batch of pics with macro and everything if I actually had one.
For a while I thought they were all sold already, fortunately I got in on the KW stuff... Have they not received them yet? I was about to shoot an E-mail asking why my package isn't on the way. If everyone else is still waiting I guess that explains it.

I liked the Volt so much I order 4. # NIB and 1 Blem. It is IMO the nicest production knife for the money i have seen. YMMV

Funny, as soon as I mention that Knifeworks hasn't shipped my package I check my E-mail and see that they have.

That's two Volts on the way for me. I wholly agree, this knife is unlike any I have ever seen. Nearly everything about it fits my tastes perfectly.

i was told that kershaw is now having problems with the manufacturing process of these knives, not sure if its true, but if anyone wants one they should get it while they can....
