The Walking Dead Season 3 Thread...

Nope...been re-watching Season 1 & 2 on Netflix over the last couple of weeks, no point in waiting until the last minute. :)

Watched the long trailer - did Rick find a silencer for a pistol? As often as they need to kill walkers quietly it would make sense, personally I'd find myself a sword. I'd also hit a dealership and ditch those old cars and RV that keep breaking down and get something new!

I just finished watching the opening episode....

It appears as though Rick's suppressor is homemade, it looks to be made out of a D-cell maglight flashlight!!!

Not sure what his son's is made out of, but it looks to be homemade also....

I thought that his son's suppressor was like one of those cones that make dumping liquids easier. I have to say, all of a sudden, these guys become Olympic level marksmen with their pistols. Gunning down Walkers hundred meters away behind a fence under pressure with a side arm? Dang. Then again, if I was in this TV show, I'd be fortifying the farm still with patrols, deadfalls, chokepoints with overlapping lines of fire, maybe a underground shelter. Lay down some concertina wire. Set up a watchtower on the roof with rifles and spotter scopes. Run drills to maintain order when poop actually hits the fan. Wow, I would totally ruin this show. I'll shut up now.

It takes more force to accomplish in a single blow than most people these days would think (read 'urban disconnect from nature')

Yep, I definitely qualify as a "non-expert". I have zero experience chopping bone... just seemed to be a lot-o-choppin' going on.

I'm ready to pull the plug on the Walking Sissies. It's time for the crew to man up. With just a little bit of strategic planning and tactical execution, our band of gutless wonders should be able to kill at a ratio of no less than 100:1. (With or without firearms) Is it asking too much for my end of world zombie TV programming to be a bit more realistic?

Yes.
Of course, if you own your own TV network, you could try to make a successful TV EOTW zombie show your way that attracts a wide enough range of viewers to not go bankrupt or get cancelled in a season... ;)

ETA: Everyone's a ****'in critic... LOL :D

All you Hogs that are Walking Dead Heads can have a chance to fly to AMC's Walking Dead set free for 2 days and have spending money to boot. I am working for the Red Cross and they have a promo thru Oct 22 with AMC. Go to AMC or Redcrossblood.org to enter the contest and donate precious blood. Every 2 seconds someone in the USA needs blood.
On a side note ,you know if a Zombie tastes salt they will realize they are dead and return to the grave. Seems such a simple solution, although not as fun as a Battle Mistress or AK47 slashing. For the gun nuts, the old shotgun and rock salt will end your Zombie woes. Kevin

Pretty damn good!
In the first episode of season 3 more has happened than in half of season 2!
Will never look at a prison the same way again!;)

The no recoil is just a little annoying, now the slide not moving when fired that is bullcrap.

Okay, at least I'm not the only one bothered by that. I also liked how they could easily pick zombies off at 50-70 yards with a handgun easily with handguns with fixed sights. I routinely shoot at that distance, but I need the adjustables. Handguns can be shot at that distance and a lot further accurately, but I have a problem with these people doing it.

I can see Rick's suppressor used to be a maglight, but was Carl's made outta a tee ball bat?

It took me a couple looks, but kind of a WTF with the suppressed Maglite.

That in itself leaves so many questions unanswered.

Overall though, not a bad episode, good season opener.

The logistics of Rick's Mag-lite suppressor are pretty unrealistic....

It's very likely that his Glock would fail to function at an alarming rate. Not to mention how the hell they managed to attach it.....

They actually show him with two different guns. The one is a glock, the other is a Ruger Mark II. It isn't much of a stretch for the .22. It has been debated like crazy.

i'm surprised they didn't do the "oil filter" suppressor for the .22. It's been done and demonstrated (and actually taxed under the NFA).

If i were in the Zombie Apocalypse, and i made my own suppressor, it would be my luck that i'd team up with an anal BATFE agent and get busted anyway.

Well, we were ready for the latest episode of "The Walking Dead"!

Ah, c'mon...you know the answer to that! DUCT TAPE. Duct tape does everything! ;);) :D:D:D

The Glock would fail to function anyway :)

Yeah, I too dropped a WTF when I saw lack of recoil and slide action on the guns. It looked like they were told to just pull the trigger and the flash was later added with CGI. As far as this show has gone to push the suspension of disbelief, this really let me down. The headshots from 50 yards away with a handgun were hard to stomach as well. The chick with the sword is pushing it, but she is not too bad. I only hope this doesn't turn into some kind of crappy Kill Bill movie :(

Venom not so much, but one would assume that the mouth and nails of a creature made up of rotting flesh would be loaded with bacteria, and once that is introduced to the blood stream, especially without access to antibiotics, you die from that

Like a komodo dragon bite. No venom but crazy infectious bite that will kill you as much as a cobra, just slower.

A bit late one these, but here's a few screenshots from TWD S03E01 and with an edgier cover of the show's theme to enjoy them to... ;)

Hey, Rob Stanley! ...Wanna take a shot at covering the theme? This one's good, but I'd be willing to bet that yours would be better!!! :)

We now know what the TG HANDLE was for... Look closely at the handle and the "blade". ;) Note that the "blade" appears to be held behind the handle by Norman Reedus in this screenshot, and doesn't look like the TG blade, not that it was that easy to spot in motion! :

And the walker taking it to the head... Bloody awesome! ;) :

Back to the actual Team Gemini. :) :

And again a good shot of it while the team discusses the possibility of the interior being overrun:

...So...ready for the new episode tomorrow yet???:thumbup:

I think the point of the farms problem was that it was at the epicenter of a cities worth of roving hordes. Not just a couple fields worth, but entire cities, 10,000+. Even with good defenses and a lot of ammo you'd have a problem with those kinds of numbers once they start to crowd towards the house. They didn't have the time or the materials for heavy enough fortification, they would have either needed mission style adobe walls that you can build from scratch or cranes, power equipment and construction rigs. The Jail is pre-built to be fortified for those kinds of numbers and mass riots.

They say in the show that they've been running all winter, so they've had probably 3 to 4 months of constant life or death practice with limited ammo to become better shooters. Anyone under those conditions will get better quickly.
