The "Whatever" Thread

My condolences Myke, 19 years is quite some time. I'm sure he wasn't Always ornery, so think back on the more humorous of the times.

I'm sorry to hear about Bennie, Mykel. My cats and dog are my "children" and I am petrified for the day I lose one of them. It sounds like you gave him a good life though and he must have been quite happy in your home. You gave him a life of love and that's the best thing you could have given him Stay strong!
Damn straight.

Thanks guys, the pain of loss will fade but the memories will live on.

Sorry to hear about your kitty, Mykel. Bennie looked like a real cool cat, and man, 19 years is a dang good run. Doesn't make it hurt any less, but that cat lived a long full life.

Somewhat good day today. I checked the ISP website and saw my CCL went active yesterday. Now to stalk the mailman until it arrives!

I would like to pick one of those up one day.
Being in Louisiana I can open carry and have done so several times, but the stigma that comes with it is not worth it.

Ive found that if your going to open carry you almost have to put on a uniform to avoid gawks and stares.
When I wear a black polo tucked into khaki pants with an open carry, people hardly bat an eye because it looks like a cop type uniform.
When I wear a t-shirt tucked into blue jeans with the open carry, people watch me like a hawk.

Me having a full size Beretta M9 doesn't lend well to the concealed aspect very well either. :p

:thumbup::thumbup:

I have yet to start on my IL CPL. If I could find my paperwork from my MI CPL I could knock 4 to 8 hours (depending on who you talk to ) off the "training".

Michigan training certificate will allow you 4 hours training credit towards your Illinois FCCL.

 Gracias.

My son just got transfered here (Navy). I'm waiting for him to get his drivers license and FOID so we can do it at the same time. He will not need the full 16 hours but we're considering some of the other training available that counts toward the IL carry license. Less lecture and more actual hands-on training.

Training is rarely a bad thing and even though IL requires two days and range time, it is surely the bare minimum of range time (30 rounds).

I actually use to think the same way about concealed carry. I am 6'2" and 170 pounds, My wife always use to make fun of how slender I am. One of my local instructors that I have become gun store friends with showed me how to better conceal and different choices. Now I can carry this and not worry about printing.

Number one is wear an undershirt, it doesn't help with printing but it does keep you from sweating all over your gun. Also I wear extra long button down shirts typically with a checkered pattern, the pattern hides the outline of the gun and the extra length keeps the shirt from riding up and exposing the weapon. For any other occasions I use my Glock 42, you could conceal this thing anywhere.

I've been wanting to get my permit lately. Unfortunately all I have at the moment is a full size m&p, and I just can't see myself concealing that thing. I'm in the process of trying to find some one who will trade it for an m&p compact(or equivalent). So far my only(reasonable) offer is from a buddy who is willing to trade his Ruger sr9 for it even. But since mine is the VTac 40 version he would be coming out around $100 ahead. I'm not sure I want it that bad...

Getting my CCW permit was a big decision but one I'm glad I made. I still don't carry every time I leave the house and I'm working to improve that. I got mine mostly because we hike and camp on government owned land a lot. It is illegal to carry if there is no open hunting season and when you can it's still illegal to conceal carry without a permit. To me the positives of carrying far outweigh the negatives. It may not be a popular choice but my favorite carry arms are S&W J-Frames, a 642 and 351pd.

Congrats on the CCL.

Look what I found in my flower bed yesterday evening!
This was about 20 ft from my front door.
Its a Timber Rattler that is over 50" long.
Its thicker than my wrist, but smaller than my arm at the elbow.

I shot it with my Beretta 9mm with Hornady 124g hollow points.
I fired 3 shots just to be sure.
One shot caused massive damage about mid-length.
