The "Whatever" Thread

He is just trying to stay warm from the heat of the compost. good way to keep the mice population down.

yep, I did not kill him. Gotta be careful, had a copperhead in the garage a while back, had to give my daughter the lecture, don't touch any of them but we'll let this one live because he is not poison but he will still bite.

We've got a black ratsnake that has lived in our crawlspace and attic of the farm house we're in for the last 4 years. My son named it Thor. The birds and squirrels no longer get in the attic and the field mice number has dropped dramatically. The deal we have (the snake and I) is that if it stays out of the house were my wife might see it then it's got my blessing and protection.

Exactly. I'd be happy to loan him to you, but I don't think he's up to handling a raccoon.

Was up in the attic with critter control Monday because nothing had been trapped. While we were up there the little gal sticks up her head. Turned out to be a squirrel. Set a trap and she was caught the next day. Attic now pest free and I have a heavy duty guard over my attic fan now.

It's funny, the only things that scare me are snakes and clowns.

My Dad is a Shriner's Clown, which is pretty cool. Beyond that, all I can say is the clowns are the strangest group of people I have ever met.

snakes don't bother me at all. If they are poisonous I kill them. if not I usually carry them over to the garden and let them go so they can keep the mice and squirrels from eating chunks out of my tomato's lol. A few years ago I was digging up potato's and pulled a bunch out and hanging in my hand was a big old black snake. scared the mess out of me till I realized he was just as shocked as me lol and he wasn't dangerous to me

I have a weekend full of weedeating around my property. Ill most likely run into one or two snakes.

I like to carry my 9mm in an El Paso Saddlery Tanker holster in case I run across any poisonous ones.

Heres a nice Timber Rattler I had in my flower bed last summer.
Notice im also bare foot! I was nervous as hell even holding that thing with no boots on!

I usually just keep a little 22 with snake shot in it. works well and I don't even have to be a great shot. safe to use around the house also lol. I remember when you posted that thread on him. We don't have many rattlers here but I leave them alone as they are one of the few poisonous snakes that warn you before they bite and then even still usually the first bite the adults don't inject any venom. again just a warning. I remember you shot him since he was right up by your house and that would have probably been enough for me with my little ones always out and about. That is a big boy for sure.

Yep, if he wouldn't have been so close I would have left him alone. Since then ive learned that they are very timid and passive snakes.
This year I plan to keep a constant supply of moth balls around the house and barn to try and deter them.
Don't know if they really even work or not, but that's what everyone keeps telling me.

Any of yall have experience using moth balls to keep snakes away?
