The "Whatever" Thread

Just got hail, high winds, and heavy rain. I'll check on things when it gets daylight.

We had crazy wind's. So much it was actually keeping me awake. I just looked out the windows and don't see any damage. Most the stuff is probably blown into my fence line though lol

A couple tornado sirens here last night. Same hail, high winds and heavy rain. Nothing like waking up to a tornado warning.

Reading all the posts over the bad weather everyone is experiencing over the past couple months almost makes me feel guilty about the winter we've had so far. Maybe the mild winter is payback for last summer's flood. I hope everyone stays safe, spring is just around the corner.

NW TN got a little bit. Awoke about 5:30 this morning to a roaring wind, rain, and hail. School's canceled here today but it seems mostly due to quite a few trees down across rural roads.

Wanted to mention that Rebecca's released a new book (well, several) but besides one of her series she's also published a stand alone book about a small town in appalachia during the depression, it's called "Fuirnace Mountain". I really like this one and thought it might be inetersing to some here.

It's general fiction and has some interesting history in it. Since some of you all have been good enough to read and follow along her career I wanted to mention it.

I'd be offering to send out copies but we actually don't have any hard copies of it ourselevs just yet.

thanks all

Congratulations on the new book:thumbup: Once I get caught up on my reading (3 books I haven't started) I'll pick up a copy. Having a "threenager" around the house as my wife now refers to our son gives very little quiet time for reading.

I agree fishiker, those are great pics, great to see everyone smiling and happy!

Yeah, even after his unexpected bath we caught a couple more trout and I never saw either of them catch anything.
Poetic justice at its best!

Nice day for a hike around the lakes. One of my favorite short hikes is a five mile loop that uses parts of three different trails and winds around two lakes with lots of hills. You also get to see the remains of an old 1800's homestead.

Jeff
Thanks for the pics Jeff.
I love seeing the woodsy pics from different regions around the states.

Haven't had time to go fishing or go on cool hikes but made it to the park today and had some fun with my little girl

You be a lucky man Randy.

It`s hard to believe Hayley turned 14 yesterday, and will be a freshman next year. Time goes by way too fast.

Happy belated Birth Day to Hayley.

Mykel -- congrats on getting your SSDI.
hopefully all the PT is making a difference and you're finding it easier to get around.
Keep in mind that as your condition continues to improve you will be eligible for "Ticket to Work" and other Voc Rehab type programs, so you're not forbidden from working.

also - I'm posting here instead of in your very generous giveaway thread because I already have both of those knives.

Here's a good one for ya'll.

My truck's engine light was on and it was running a bit rough at idle, but not at speed , so I took it in to the dealer to have it checked out and to get the oil changed/tires rotated since it was time to get them done.

Anyways, the tech said when he took the air filter housing off as part of the routine trouble shooting a friggin' rat jumped out.
Yeah, a rat!
The little bugger had chewed his way in from wherever the intake tube starts somewhere in the wheel well and up into the filter housing and had made himself a snug little nest in there.
The air filter wasn't included with the oil change and I wasn't going to pay their prices for installing a new one so I bought one from the parts store down the street to put in and sure enough the old filter had a 1-1.5" hole on top, but a rat body sized hole on the underside.

I fashioned a rat stopper in the air intake tube out of some perforated SS sheet with 3/16-1/4" round holes throughout so hopefully that'll keep the rats out for now on.

Friggin' rats!
And friggin' dealerships for their high priced work and parts!(rats of a different breed imo)
