Would anyone else be interested in a Mora Eldris inspired JK?

I have posted these pics before, but I have thought that this one would be close to the Eldris in size to perform cutting chores. I believe it is a pocket Kephart.

cbach8tw cbach8tw that does resemble an Eldris except for the much better steel John used. I guess I'm in the minority concerning the Eldris. It's the only Mora I've owned that I can't find a real use for. I consider it too bulky for pocket carry. As a small backup blade it takes up too much space in pouch/pack. If I want a lightweight necker the 510 is more versatile. I've still got an Eldris thinking one day I will find the niche where it belongs but I haven't gotten close yet.

That's roughly where I'm at with it. I have one only because I haven't found someone who accepted me on an offer as a gift yet. I like the JK hurley creek considerably more, and now my own pocket woodcrafter which I like even more for pocketable camping/woodcraft uses.

I tried the mora as a carver for the wood prototypes I make and it wasn't great at it, a larger puukko was better at the fine detail despite the 1" more blade length. I attribute this to the tall blade. But, I do understand why people like it, it's just not for me, my tastes, and how I use my gear.

This modified Eldris pattern (to be dubbed the Wolverine) may end up as a one-off, but I think I’ll enjoy it none the less.

I like the nice full handle and short blade for good control while prepping kindling. I don’t find the knife bulky at all, it feels minimal in my pocket or bag. I’ve got some time to play with the Mora version so I can decide how best to tweak my design. Keep you posted!

I think I’ll only add 1/2” to the blade length, which should not change the way it handles, but possibly add a little more utility. That’s as far as I’ve gotten with it.

Business came to a screechin’ halt, temporarily laid off, drinkin’ by the river at 2 PM on a Thursday. Feel pretty good though!

Sorry to hear about the laid off part, but the rest sounds pretty good. Kind of wish I still drank.

I have an orange handled one that I bought a while back. Great little knife and they practically give them to you.

Wish I had some of those spicy cheese sausages we enjoyed at the Gatherings about now. Coals are perfect!

John, can you get 3/32” O1 in 1 1/2” stock? I think a 2 1/2” cutting edge with a 3 3/4” x 1 1/2” handle will be perfect.

He can, that's what we used for the Michigan Utility knife.
