The "Whatever" Thread

In a way it’s good we are too poor to take vacation or go on any trips, our cars will last a while. Connie’s 2015 Jeep only has 23k miles on it, we use my 2016 Chevy more, it’s got 26k miles. We were going to sell my car, but thought we would keep it in case I go back to a real job soon.

Moving to TN was hard on my Colorado - pulling all those trailer loads wore out the brakes and the trans doesn't shift like it used to.

And, it has 184,000 miles on it now.......

But - better than laying out a bunch of cash for a newer truck.

My Dad is going to sell me his 2012 Ranger when he is ready - it has 40k miles on it and I am going to be putting maybe 2k miles on my truck each year now that we are down here in Winchester.

I always thought I would buy me a zoot new truck when I retired, but now I am thinking like a retiree lol -

I was thinking more that a lot of people are unemployed right now

My experience is that people are getting more money with the added $600 kicker plus unemployment than they were making when working - and the stimulus checks -

Maggie said that Walmart sold out of TVs and gaming systems when those stimulus checks started hitting the shelves.

JK Knives JK Knives - I send the Kepharts to my son and grandsons - I'll share any pictures they take - should have them tomorrow!! Excited to see that.

I know that the current situation has definitely had an effect on my income level, but now I’ve been bitten by the JK bug. Trying to figure out what my next order will be. I’ve received my EO1 EDC and Keychain Companion, and have a Bluegill and 24/7 from The Good Knife Co coming. So my thought is that my next one needs to be a little larger, like a Kephart. However I have a Knives of Alaska Bushcamp that I’ve hardly used at all... For skinning deer, my EDC will take care of that pretty easily. Any recommendations?

I know I will also order 2 knives for my sons for Christmas. Possibly another for my father in-law.

If any of you guys have any suggestions and pictures, post them and help F1addict out.

How about either of these, or a flat grind version?

I've owned all of those except the keychain companion and including the KOA bushcamp. What use are you looking for, in general, or a size?

Here's a spattering of mid-sized stuff.

Thinking I want a FFG on the next one. Now that I look at specs, the Kephart is smaller than the KOA Buchcamp. The Bushcamp is 10.5” overall with a 6” blade.

In general, looking for something a little larger than what I currently have (and incoming). Something to take camping / hunting, but not too overwhelming. And of course, something so I can send John some more money!! :-)

John, looking back at older posts, do you ever plan on doing an EDC Kephart again? I think that would be a really good size for my sons.

I still offer the EDC Kephart, see post #99 in the Almost Ready To Ship thread.

I missed that one!! OK, think I’m much closer to narrowing everything down now. Kephart for me, and EDC Kepharts for the boys.

Thank you for the help guys!

The Rule 9 would be good. The compact tool would be killer too.

One of the glories of working with John is if you like a design but want it slightly different, like a different grind, you just have to ask. So getting any of his knives with a full height grind is doable, but usually he charges a little more for it because of the extra work. I have a rule 9 in scandivex on order, as an example. We've also priced out my Michigan utility knife in full-height grind as it would be a mean slicer with the full flat grind and 3/32" steel when someone inquired about it. I should have one like that made up for stock, now that I think of it.

I like his Canadian belt knife, especially the longer, clipped version we worked out the modified design of and then ran in 154cm stainless.

John has a few really nice looking Nessmuk-inspired designs he's made too that might be interesting foe you.

The viKtim would be a very capable & useful pattern for a camp knife.
if 5/32" stock isn't available, 3/16" with a FFG would be pretty nice, too.

Due to rioting all stores in our area are closed, Connie was sent home. They are looting about 5 miles away from us.

Supposedly several neighboring suburbs have been called out as targets to burn down by some group(s) on twitter. Not sure what that means, my brother shared it with me so now I'm wondering if it's legit or not.

I dont get wtf a protest turned riot against higher turns into destroy our neighbor hoods. Just need some ruff men standing guard I guess.

It really hurts the point of the protests, but most of the peaceful protests seem to be happening during the day and the riots happening later in the evening/night, at least around Michigan. I'm 99% sure much of the over-reaction is pent up rage from the mass quarantine, not all, but a lot of it.
