The "Whatever" Thread

2026 is off to a bad start, new washing machine, $495, new furnace, $4900, vet bill, $590.

Ooofff, we went through that a couple years ago. Furnace and AC combined for us during the winter, they've gotten expensive. I think the water heater was the following fall and a refrigerator over the summer. Sometimes, it seems like all the things hit around the same time.

With the cold weather, thst furnace should be humming along and keeping everyone warm. Hang in there, read any good books lately? Still glad we can talk to JK’ers here too. Do you still do any leather work to keep the hands flexible?

Just for looks, I got two Buck 112s, one is a classic version with contoured handles, the irher is ine I got here on the forums, Magnacut and micarta handle with the brass bolsters. The classic is heavy and the micarta is a little less heavy, but I like the solid feel of them. My first folder with Magnacut.IMG_1059.jpegIMG_1060.jpegIMG_1061.jpeg

Love the Buck 112, I still have three of those. One is 1974-1980, one is from 1981-1985, and my lucky find is a first year production 1972, the only year they had black micarta handles, before they started using wood for them.

I'm not usually one to complain, but the last week or so has been a bit much. Our company's founder passed away, so we had all of the things associated with that. Then we had that wallop snow storm, so cleaning up snow over and over. The day after the storm, my furnace decided it didn't want to come on. It's honestly only like 5 years old, so that was frustrating. Someone was able to come out and figure what was wrong with it, and got it running again. Then I came down with something, so I've been down and out for the past couple days. Oh yeah, my co-worker's mom passed away unexpectedly, so there's that also.

John, keep fighting the good fight. You need to be there for your family!

Hope everyone is doing well. For the first time in over two weeks, I can see parts of my lawn. The big "snow" storm that was forecast turned into an ice storm. Most places had 6-10 inches or more of mostly ice accumulation. The storm was followed with unseasonably cold weather for Virginia. Nighttime lows were single digit with daytime highs in the 20's.
The humidity and insects might get bad here in the summertime but I'd take it over being frozen all winter....all of my friends up north, stay warm.

Hope everyone is doing well. Thomas has tryouts for the school soccer team this week. I feel pretty good about his chances of making the team. If he does the next few weeks will be interesting with him still playing travel basketball and making the rec league all star team. I think the all star team only plays a few games but he is beyond excited to have made the team. I'm counting the weeks till spring gobbler.

I feel your pain, we lost duke a few summers ago now and don't want another dog due to the pain. I did however play with some random boxer in the snow last night. He must have snuck out of his house but he wanted to ruff house with me. Pretty sure sore ring cameras captured it lol

We lost our Boxer, Stella, in November of 2021, she was a sweetheart.
