the women in our lives.

My bride is one of those people who should never be allowed to touch any edged tool. It always ends up with chunks of her or chunks of the blade missing. And I have not found the right way to teach her how to properly handle a blade....she always thinks I'm being condescending or something. I keep trying though.........

My girl has no interest, but she respects mine. She is amazing in every other way though, and were getting married July 11th!

who else has been blessed enough to get an SO who either supports or engages in your sharp things hobby?

Me.:)
My wife bought me a nice dagger for our first anniversary of dating, then a Civilian and Chinook 3 two Christmasses ago. She carries either a Benchmade 707(Sequel) or the Spyderco Lava that I gave her, and has a few other knives as well.
The only problem is that she now recognizes ALL my knives by name, so I can't sneak any new ones past her!:(:D

My knifehobby emerged while I was already with my current gf, she saw it grow and tolerated it quite nicely. If she didn't know what to get me for example on Christmas or on birthdays I'd point her to a knife I liked, she might have asked why I wanted it but would still get it.

At first she was actually quite scared of knives and didn't even want me handling one in her presence and would tell me to put that thing away. There was no way she would even touch one. But little by little I guess her curiosity won over and she wanted to maybe try handling one and she got used to them little by little. I may have also replaced the word "weapon" with "tool" as the definition of a knife. Eventually she said she wanted to have one too, so she picked up an adequate cheapo folder (440C and blue/black G10) from a local online knifestore, she tought it was the only nice looking one with a reasonable price tag.

Recently I got her a purple Ladybug III and she's loving it and has it on her keys. Maybe later I'll pick her one of them pink folders like the mini-grip or some Spydie.
She's still a bit cautious about knives she thinks look ugly or menacing or she's not used to, especially if she has trouble actually deploying the blade (stiff sheath or too much tension needed to pop the blade open).

She still tries to hold me back a little when it comes to purchasing new knives, especially the more expensive ones. But I guess that's a good thing as she makes me think twice, well before she even knows about it I've probably thought it over 10 times. :P

But having seen several knife-hysterical women I'd say she's definitely a keeper. :D

My wife has bought me many knives as gifts. She even bought me a Boker combat Smatchet in 440C,limited run of 1200 I believe.I've bought her more than a few knives also. The latest being a pink Izula, she loves it.Might get her a RC3 next, likes the boot clip idea.Come to think of it,so do I!

my wife would rather own a gun than a knife. i think that a gun would be too complicated for her in a panic situation, and a reliable knife that is simple to use(like the izula) would be perfect for her(pink of course). someday maybe.

She also allows me to keep my corn snake in the house, which a lot of girls wouldn't tolerate.

man i must have really lucked out. my 'lisha had 4 corn snakes when we first got together, we now have 11 various snakes, 2 cats, a dog and a ferret.

she loves knives... i got her a pink handled leek a couple years ago, gonna have to get her an izula before long. and she's warmed up to firearms quite nicely, just the other day, i told her "they only had one 100 round box of .45, and i didn't buy it". she asked me why not.

Missus doesn't understand, but accepts. Want to get her something small sooner or later. not a RAT, doubt she'd keep it oiled. but maybe a spyderco. :)

I am furtunate that my wife seems to think that all men should carry a blade of some sorts. She carries a SAK I gave her to cut stuff on the move, like the kids drinking straws or little packets etc.

When my outdoor knife broke and I had to replace it, she had no issue about the purchase. When I got the RC 4 she held it to check comfort, tested the edge. I am very fortunate to have her.

A few years ago, (15-20) most men would have had a pocket knife. Got my firt at 6 years old, because my dad said so. Nowadays, people frown when you have a knife.

This is a little OT:

I think that depends on where you live, the more rural the area the more people are used to having knives. It's that way in Germany, and I'd bet it's the same in the US.

Also, the smaller the community, the better. If you tried wearing one in a small familiar town, it kinda becomes just a quirk to others. Wear it in a major city, then everyone thinks you're nuts. :p

'Nuff said. :p

I'm pretty lucky too, my GF listined to be babble on and on about angles, blade alloys and handle materials for so long she started to become interested im picking up some spyderco's for her self!!!

My wonderful wife of 12 years says she never knew there were SO MANY different knives (sigh!).

But she loves the cute pink folder I got her for X-Mas and now knows how incredibly useful knives can be.

I think RAT knives are a little MANLY for "most" females:p

- Ducking

She's a good shot though -

The wife's not to keen on sharp things, or things that go boom. She doesn't have a problem with them, she just wants them out of reach from little hands.....I can understand that. We have met an agreement. I can get what i want as long as the kids can't reach it........and/or the knife that looks like it just came in the mail has actually been in a closet for some years now **wink**.

My little lady LOVES knives. We've got several swords and axes and what not hanging on the walls. Got her a set of throwing knives for xmas. She got my hand me down Sog when I got the RC-4, but I think she might be seeing her own RAT in the future. She's worth the best.
