The Wonderous Whittler

Thanks for your kind comments.
This page has great knives, GEC 38 and 57 that I can't put a hand on. The Winchester and case are classics. The Solingen stag LB whittler is very interesting being a a shadow, and the Case Bose LB whittler is still on my list.
Here's Fightin Rooster LB Whittler it was pure luck getting this one (I might have post it already...)

Mike

Now that is what I am talking about.

I got this Remington split spring whittler at a flea market this past summer for 10 dollars. It has an old scale repair with primitive tar epoxy. Pretty cool knife, not sure what to do about the repair.

Wow sweet find for $10- I believe thats called a blood groove. Fairley scare knife.
Way to go.

WOW Jamie that is a very beautiful Whittler! You are right that is quite a foreboding but interesting blade for a pearl handled whittler:thumbup: Lloyd

Appreciate the comments, gents. As cool as the main is, the secondaries I find spectacular in their own right. Definitely one of my favorites as I tend to walk the path less traveled when it comes to vintage knives:rolleyes:

I think this is the first slipjoint I've bought without intending to use. I've never owned any whittlers prior to this, but whittler construction has long intrigued me. I bought this one so I could admire it, as a fine example of the cutler's art. She doesn't disappoint. I foresee long sessions of chicken eye'n and coon fingerin'.

Is the year stamped on that knife, Christian?

Jamie, that Remington is something else!

Here's a cousin to yours, Christian.

Very nice Al. Though I have to say, I don't think it holds a candle to your bone covered 39097. Should you ever tire of that one, feel free to send her my way.

;)

So, likely made at Queen under the supervisorship of Bill Howard. A good era for Queen-made knives!!
Extra nice!!

A great era. My first high quality slipjoint was a Bill Howard Queen. But for that knife, there is a good chance that I would never have gotten into this hobby.
