"The World Of Art Knives" Vol.II !!

i dedicated a whole section in my book to the wondrous story behind the
1973 john trebendous full set of 20 knives from the r. W. Loveless shop.
its creation, changing hands, being broken up and sold in parts to various collectors...

Then through the relentless dedication of one swiss collector and 4 years of trading,
buying and bargaining the set of 20 was brought together once again.

Here is the full page illustration i created of the 20 knives.
The rest of this 10 page section displays the knives individually with
detailed descriptions!

A treasure for anyone interested in classic loveless design knives and patterns
at their best from the loveless-johnson classic days!

All the best,
david darom (ddd)

Tonight I'll be flying to Moscow (Russia) to attend the "ARSENAL" Knife Show
on the 24-27th of April. This is also where I shall officially introduce my new book!

It is a very prestigious knife show displaying the wondrous Russian knife art,
some of which amazing pieces were shown in my new book and will be shown
in future books too...

Visit there if you want a signed copy of the new book....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Came back last night from the "Arsenal" Knife Show in Moscow,
where the 1st 120 copies of the book were sold....

Exciting knife show of completely different concept, using booths
instead of tables, different from what we are used to in the West.

Lucky for me to have my son Nir along to do the available light
photography, and a superb job he did indeed....

I shall post visual impressions in a day or two on a Thread dealing
with that Knife show....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

I,d love to see the pictures Nir took. From what I know about Russian makers is they can craft some very ornate pieces.
Congrats on the journey and sales.

Yes Bruce, some of the custom knife / display-stand setups
made by Russian artists are truly amazing works of art.
We were lucky to have been invited to the workshop
of Leonid Arkhangelsky whose amazing knife art
is also displayed in my new book...

I was lucky to have my son Nir with me to shoot available light
pictures like this one - super steady hand, no tripod and very low light....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Coincidence: I just acquired a set of knives and an ornate thematic stand from a prominent Russian maker. It's one of the most elaborate sculptures I have encountered. I'm supposed to do it justice. YIKES!

Art Knives II: I sent an email to Missy for a copy. I can't wait. :)

Here, Bruce, is one of the Art Knife creations made by Leonid Arkhangelsky,
shown above forging a blade from Damascus he creates....
This is one of his full page illustrations from my new book...Enjoy!

I just contacted Missy Beyer, who is handling David's US distribution. She's sending me a copy on monday.

This hasn't been posted, and it's an easy transaction: missy.beyer@live.com
Her cell: (920) 216-3007

Looking forward to this!

Jim

Thank you Coop!

By the way 1000 books were printed but only 220 books are in
the USA
with Missy Beyer... See post above...

The rest have been sold in Russia and to a private dealer in
the Far East....

I am now working on my 11th volume, "The World of Art Knives" Vol. III,
planned for mid 2015...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

BTW: I just got a USPS confirmation tracking number and followup on PayPal, and a note from Missy. She tells me that anyone who has already paid has their book in shipping transit.

She also told me to have anyone who has not paid yet through PayPal at the above email to contact her for shipping fees and info. She'll get right on it once she's heard back.

She apologized for any delays and confusion, but the books are shipping readily now.

Looking forward to the review!

From Missy, in response to this ^^^ post:

"Jim – if you don’t mind mentioning something for me – I can’t post from my office. If a customer is calling and RESTRICTING their phone number I cannot accept that call because of my own security settings. If their number is restricted they are encouraged to send a text announcing who they are first."

Cudos to you, David, for the wonderful publications you offer us time and again. Apparently there were some ISP problems with communication, not of Missy Beyer's making, that complicated matters for all. Looking forward to receiving another spectacular book.

I sure hope so. I paypalled Missy on the 24th and haven't heard from her yet or received a tracking number but I keep the faith.

Thank you again Coop for this most welcome news relating
the distribution of my book.

I really hope that things will get in line and all frustrated clients
will manage to contact Missy and get to see my book very, very soon after that....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Ahead of schedule and as she promised Missy mailed my book on Tuesday and USPS had it in my hands on Thursday.

I've only opened it and feathered through the pages for a minute. There is SO much to enjoy inside. (I did however read David's closing flap tribute to his remarkable wife Tehiya. So graceful.)

I will need to make some time to read and absorb. However, I can tell already it's a hit!

I'm glad she kept her promise to you and you received your book so quickly.
She received My PayPal over a month ago and still no book.
