The ZT no one is talking about! ZT0804CF

Bullet proof shield? Alright then haha.

Well, bullet resistant. ;)
I tested the main plate material (a piece I cut off the same source material), and it stopped point-blank range 12 gauge 00 buckshot, and all the .38 slugs (4 different loading, including full jacketed. 16 shots of .38 in total).
The 9mm full jacketed got through in one spot when it hit the exact same spot as another 9mm shot; 9mm dents it pretty bad.
So, I'm adding a secondary plate on the rear of it, but smaller.

My AR450 plate will show up on Monday; it also goes on the back, in a different position. That plate will stop pretty much any handgun round on its own.

The "window" is 2 panes of 3/16" polycarbonate...a single pane stops birdshot form the 12 gauge with just minor dent, but a .22 goes through it.
But that's fine, because no one bothers shooting at me anyway. :D

Overall size of the shield is 4 feet by 2 feet.
The main plate is 1 foot by 2 feet.
Total weight looks to be about 35 pounds.

What about some of the real hot 9mm nato loads? And why make this lol?

I love the 0804cf except for the detent. When closing the knife I always end up pinching my finger with the flipper because the detent doesn't clear the lockbar until late. I have the same problem with my 0562cf. I admit that I have fat thumbs.

The AR450 plate will stop magnum rounds, and it's behind the other plate.
No 9mm round is going through 2 plates of the other steel when one plate stopped 9mm on its own. :)

As to why make such a thing, the real question is why not?

Other than the AR450 plate (which only covers a relatively small area), all materials were found in a couple of garages.
If you haven't wondered just how bullet-resistant you could become with stuff from your garage, that's just sad. :D

Lol, it is a little late on both, I agree.
But man, ZT has their sh*t together imo.
I mean, impeccable fit and finish, dead nutz centered, silky smooth action, and seriously sharp outta the box.

One other thing, ZT does a fantastic job with the black coating! Just super nice and smooth.

For me it's a combination of things that steered me away from it, I'm more of a 3.5" blade guy, and there's something just too "plain" about the top spine/handle when open, between the straightness of it, and the fact there's no thumb ramp/serrations there. I'd also like to see some texture/grooves/milling something on the CF side just to break up the slab. The price really isn't bad for a 4" blade with CF/Ti/CTS204P. Also the clip isn't super sexy, but it's better than what we find on the bulk of ZT knives.

I'll tell ya what though Todd, once ya get her in hand, you'll just really fall in love. It's such perfection imo. Flips so very well, and just falls back into place. Very, very sharp outta the box too. Now, I must admit I did not pay the $280 price tag. And thats certainly not to say that I wouldn't have either. As you say, its a 4" blade of CTS 204P and all the other goodies including a machined titanium clip. I got mine of the forum as NIB for $200
And I'm just really glad I got that lucky. I was just about ready to srping for the full $280
But, then again its always hard to beat that damn 0562CF lol....that's a really nice pocket knife right there now lol..

I am not a fan of flippers, but the clean lines of this ZT really do look nice. I also like that they FINALLY made a pocket clip to match the style of the damn knife. It always bothers me that the same clip is on so many of their knives. Seems like they always just go "Efit, this clip will work". In my mind a $250+ knife should have every aspect designed specifically to match the style and performance of the tool. Yes I know Spyderco and Benchmade and Emerson all have their brand specific pocket clips but those clips are usually on much less costly knives. I generally dont like the emerson or benchmade clips either.

How does the 804 carry? One of the reasons I'm holding off getting it (other than the price) is I have a 452CF and an 801BW already. I love how the 452 just disappears in the pocket, it's so narrow and light, yet the blade is as big as the 804, though not as wide. The 801 is a bit heavier and shorter, but it's still not a bulky carry. I was considering a 450 for a while, but I think it'll be a bit too small for me (a complaint I hear often). On the other side of the scale, I'm wondering if the 804 will be a bit too bulky compared to the 452. Both have similar blade profiles and, even best case, I'll end up with two knives very similar to each other.
For those having both the 452 and 804, which do you find you carry more often and why?

I've only had my 0804 a couple days. But, imo she carries just fine. I also have an 0452CF.
But I also carry a Spyderco K2 a lot lol.
Really though the 0804cf carries just fine as far as Im concerned. Not too bulky, not too long. Its just fine imo.

I'll be honest, I think 99.9% of machined clips are a purely aesthetic touch that sacrifices utility for good looks. I'm sincerely hoping they're a fad that doesn't spread any farther. I want spring in my clip to accommodate a variety of material thicknesses and allow some personal adjustment on my part.

A lot of agreement here. I'm really very happy with common spring clips (wire clips) like those found on relatively expensive Spyderco folders such as the Pattada and their Slysz Bowie. Of course, Spyderco wwire clips are also found on many of their more economical folders, but why change something that works so well?

The clips as found on the PM2 and so forth are also quite nice, and I like them. Also the CRK Sebbie and Zaan clips.
What I don't like are the clips that try to tear up your Pockets so quickly, like the original BM 755 MPR. Gosh, I really hated that clip. I did tell BM and they sent me a replacement of a different design that seemed to work just fine.

Man.....cannot wait to get my 0804CF over to Jason Bosman. Just got my Millie in 204P back from Jason, and lol....its absolutely NASTY....So were the Millie in 52100, the K2 in 10V, the Brous's Division and Elite Enforcer both in D2....I actually cut myself on the big Division....it popped my finger right off the bat lol....
This 0804CF, is gonna be some kinda sweet when he gets done with her...

The ZT 0804 is an EXTREMELY nice knife, but I really dislike black coated blades. And it's quite expensive.

The ZT 0909, while not nearly as visually attractive, fills the same size niche, and at a much lower price. The blade steel isn't AS premium, but S35VN is still a very good steel. I would bet ZT sells 4 to 6 0909's for every 0804 they sell. Or more.

I just got mine yesterday. It is a really nice knife. Great size, super smooth, solid lockup, and excellent fit & finish. I am really impressed with all the details that went in to the design of this knife. I picked up this one and the ZT 0909 at the same time, but the 0804 will be my new carry knife, while the 0909 is getting sold. This just fit my needs better, and is more my style.

This is the only ZT I want right now. @$220 price now, it is only a matter of time or me selling a few I don't like as much.

Huge. I think the normal plates are 10"x12"... and 6"x8" side plates... that rig with front and back 10x12's is heavy enough. 35 pounds isn't bad, I'd expect heavier. Why AR450?

I saw a plate for $29, so the price tempted me into getting it.
The main plate is unknown steel that my brother got, so it was an even better price...free! :D

After testing the free steel, I was pleased with its performance.
