There can be only one.

All three fantastic entries Mark!!!

But I thought the guy that started this thread said there could only be one!

:p :D :p

I don't think I've made mine yet.............

karambit and a half! That is a wicked piece, pad. One of my housemates says it's be fun to have on lamb carcass delivery day in the butcher shop:eek::eek:

okay, i dunno. I'm having a hard time narrowing down. My EDC shop knife, first blade I did as a fully forged knife, maybe should be on the list, but....

For finish, balance of materials, and just as the best expression of my current ability making a 'simple' knife, this one does a good job. It's one of the least 'special'- I made it while working on a custom order because I just got a hair up my butt and zoned out for a couple hours a day until it was done.

Not a knife, but I finished this today. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Very nice:thumbup:

I have not seen anything quite like it. Can you tell us a little more about the construction?

Thanks for sharing, Fred

Well, I would have to say this one was hard to hand off. Probably my best work yet.

Tad,

I would love too see a better pic of that Knife. Hamon looks like you nailed the hardening.

Thanks Fred. The pen is made from solid bars of zirconium metal. It is cut on a CNC lathe. The metal gets treated to form the black ceramic surface. There are other steps involving acid baths and lasers, and a lot of hand finishing to get the mirror finish parts. The clip is made from a solid mar and machined to final shape and treated like the other material to get the puzzle pieces. It is then laser welded to the body. It's a lot of work, but I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Mark, Thanks, I'll post a better pic when I get to the house tonight. I wanted a dark overall look, so I etched and just cleaned it up a bit leaving it dark.

OK, my talents don't begin to compare to some I see on this forum yet but, with each knife I learn something. This about my fourth or fifth knife and maybe my best to date. This is also the first of my knives to host my makers mark!
It's made by reduction method as I am still working on my forge. The handles are Red Oak and have been pickled, the bolster is cast Pewter. The pins are brass. The sheath was made by myself also.
These pics suck but it was cloudy for three days and had to deliver this one to a customer so he could present it, to his son on Christmas. So this is the best I could do with the pics. Either the sheath showed up good or the blade but not both in the same pic! The pics do not do it justice!!!

Nice one, Tad. Very Ray Richardesque. I've got one in the works like that, but it will probably be much uglier :)
