Now that's hilarious.

Hey y'all, listen up, this dude's here to tell us all the truth about Chinese knives! Ain't nobody heard the kind of truth bomb he's about to drop!

Here's a preview... some Chinese manufacturers are putting out quality stuff!

Thanks for the update, bro, nobody here's ever heard of Reate or WE before!
You mean nobody has heard the truth bomb he’s about to drop with the blunt franlkliness that ever franked a blunt chinese frankle.

Where’d the damn jerkit emoji go. We’ve seen this same S&@#% rehashed almost daily by “time eater” et al.

Well uh, it's perfectly all right with me, but I should tell you that I am a blunt man and I intend to speak very frankly here -- maybe -- more frankly than anyone in my position's ever spoke to anyone here before.
What position are you in by the way?

You telling me you’re going to boycott everything made on Pluto? Bet you’re sitting there typing this, comfortably, knowing you have your Pluto made Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator in the cabinet.

Hypocrite.
Uhhh… it’s a Q-37

There's been a lot of talk within the knife community about a changing of the guard regarding knife manufacturers, and I think that we're seeing this now with the success WE Knife/Civivi is having along with Kizer. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that these manufacturers were not even in the conversation. Clearly, that is not the case now, and I don't think it's hyperbole to put WE Knife/Civivi up there with the big boys now, such as Spyderco, Benchmade, Buck and Cold Steel. So, the question really is why is this happening? Well, there are several reasons for this phenomenon, and two (2) of the most significant reasons are attention to detail/quality control and \-snip-

I'm bothered by this, but you cannot expect anything more than an honest appraisal of the product itself - people want value for their money. The only measure that really matters to the consumer is value for their money, and they're not getting it in America right now; and, if they can't get it here in the States, then they will be more than happy to purchase from China and other countries. I want to emphasize that the problem is twofold: cost and quality. Quite frankly, Civivi knives are winning in both areas. You can like it or lump it, but that's just the way it is.
According to who? Also, if you aren't finding value in America's knifemakers, it's because you aren't looking hard enough. I have hundreds of knives (and have probably owned over a thousand in my life), all by American companies or makers. I have something like three or four Chinese knives, which, while nice, are soulless machine made knives.

Also, last I checked, if all someone cares about is "value for the money', then buy yourself an Opinel, a Mora, and a SAK in your preferred size and call it day. 🤷

I’ve been able to shake each of these makers‘ hands and most have handled my stuff and given constructive feedback and tips on things I’ve struggled with in my knife-making… The Quality of their work is without question and I’m willing to pay for it. Each of theses knives represents someone to me. Ive got a couple of Civivis that I don’t care about somewhere.View attachment 2446878

What? You mean you actually want to be able to meet and shake hands with the man, a fellow countryman, who made your knife? Don't you know there's better value for your dollar by buying something that was made like seven thousand miles away in the bowels of some stinking city-sized manufacturing facility in Guangdong, China and bolted together by Factory Worker #B763901G? Come on, now. Think of the value.

I intend to speak very frankly here -- maybe -- more frankly than anyone in my position's ever spoke to anyone here before.
Don't be silly. Oh wait, it's already too late.

I think the community has made it's point. We all know about high end knives made in China. Some of us own some. Some of us don't. That's a personal choice. But the bottom line is that you are not "shining sunshine into dark places". So you can stop pretending that you are.
