Thickest SAK you would EDC...

I carried a Swiss Champ in my pocket for years. I still carry it occasionally. I'm not bothered by heavy knives.

It depends what I'm wearing. Jeans a Climber is the thickest I've carried. Cargo shorts or the like, a Huntsman in the pocket no problem. It's the thickest I have right now, but could probably go 1 layer more. For dress I've only carried a Classic SD.

Huntsman for me is perfect and the widest of my four SAKs. Don't even know it's there and has all the features/tools I could ever need.

The Explorer or the Ranger are pretty thick SAKs which I EDC from time to time. But usually I don´t carry such thick knives. I prefer a two layer, definitelly.

Kind regards

For me its 3 layers but powernoodle's posts about his explorer plus have been tempting me to reconsider. I'd love to give that knife a try.

I carry an Explorer or a Ranger, but that's my limit. The Ranger is five layers, but not all layers are equal between models. I like the Ranger because it's one of the thinnest five layer models, and it's very tool dense. I haven't bought a Champion Plus or Swiss Champ because I know they're not for me. Pliers layers in particular are thick and heavy.

What I'm wearing also dictates what I carry. A Huntsman in jeans is fine. Or a Ranger in a jacket pocket. But for summer shorts, I'd prefer an 84mm Tinker, a Sportsman, Recruit or a Cadet.

I Edc a black alox farmer with inline phillips and mag glass. I also have a pocket clip on it so it stays put.

For pocket carry an Alox Soldier is max.I rotate between the Huntsman,Climber, and Farmer for belt carry.I don't like alot of heavy stuff in my pockets.

I can go as high as 6 depending on what kind of pants I'm wearing, but I usually stick to 4.

I'm fortunate in that I can pack a ton of stuff in my pockets without it bothering me. However, I've taken to wearing carpenter's/tactical pants and wearing belt carriers for items to simplify access and prevent interference/damage between items. My favorite Victorinox is generally the Huntsman, but I carry the Ranger for the metal file/saw.

Two layers cellidor is about my limit. My favorite full-sized SAKs are the Tinker, OG Soldier, SI, and Electrician.

On occasion (weekends) I have my swisschamp xlt in a belt pouch.

Every day I have a Vic Climber in my rear pocket next to my wallet - 3 layers thick. I used to have a Huntsman back there, but I found that the extra layer did make carrying it noticeable.

So - 3 layers in pocket, no limit in a belt pouch.

+1 for the explorer. Big in the pocket but the blade options all good and I quite like the way a 4 layer handle feels in my hand when I am using the knife.

The two-layer 111mm knives are great to handle but may be a tad heavy in the pocket. I don't really mind. The Nomad is one of my favorites for pocket-carry.

My Climber RT is the perfect SAK for my needs, and with 3 channels is as large as I'm willing to go for an EDC.

For me, two stacks or less is best for deep-pocket carry, three-stack models are only a scale width thicker than a double (unless you go alox) but any bigger and I won't carry it. Just too bulky to sit comfortably in the pocket and I'm not big on belt pouches/sheaths.

How about you? :)

Me too. Usually, I'll think at the beginning of the day whether I'm likely to need the tool in the third layer. Also, what kind of pants am I wearing?

In slacks, 3 layers is ruled out. In other kinds of pants, it's OK.

The tricky thing for me is deciding which 2-layer knife to carry. The Tinker hasn't got a scissors, which I use often, and the Compact hasn't got a phillips, which I also use often. So I carry the Super Tinker pretty often and carry the Compact when I don't think I'll need a phillips that day.

One really nice compact 2 layer knife that gets overlooked often is the Manager series. It adds a #1 phillips, pen, and bottle opener to the Classic; very useful. The only problem with them is that they are very nearly as easy to lose as a Classic. ;)
