Thickest SAK you would EDC...

Smaug, you might also enjoy the Executive, which has scissors and is small. No phillips, however. The Golfer has both scissors and the combo tool, which I find fine for most phillips applications, personally.

I’ve carried a 6 stack champion in my pocket for years, I started carrying a spirit last year the champion doesn’t get used as much anymore but since I don’t find it obtrusive to carry and it still gets used often I don’t see any good reason not to carry it.

If I had it, I would edc the swiss champ XLAVT or whatever it's called. I don't care if it does weight 2lbs.

Since you don't include a smiley, you probably mean it. This boat anchor is undoubtedly intended for collectors, unwieldy otherwise, so why take it on? Pants not low enough :D ?

I think I'd have to put a rock in my opposite pocket, just so I wouldn't start walking in circles. :)

I carried a Deluxe Tinker for a few months and just couldn't ever get used to the bulk. Even the standard Tinker that I carry on occasion seems quite noticeable in my pocket; it's just barely tolerable.

Lately, I've been EDC my swisschamp everyday without a sheath. It's not a big deal. Most people carry around large wallets in their opposite pocket. So why not a large knife to match our wallets heft and size? The XAVT is hefty I'm sure. But so is my wallet. If I get it someday, I plan to edc it. Maybe not right away, but I'll figure it out.

Why does the XAVT include two different bit drivers? I understand that nothing exceeds like excess. But isn't duplicate bit drivers a bit silly even for a silly knife?

You should carry whatever's comfortable for you, and I'll defend to the death your right to carry it, but yikes! That thing has ceased to be a pocket knife and has since coalesced into an H. R. Gigeresque monstrosity.

Carried the huntsman for a while but for the last several months have carried a six layer (forgot the model name, has magnifying glass & Phillips). I carry so much stuff in my pockets that a couple more layers isn't a big deal;). That being said, if I were using all the time, 4 layer is more ergonomic to me.

Explorer I believe is what your talking about. :)

Explorers are great. I've got an old one with the screw-joint scissors, and it is always coming loose. But I hear some folks think the newer style magnifier is inferior to the old one...

I'm going to try loc-titing the screw in place, and if that doesn't work, I may send it back to Victorinox and request they retrofit it with the newer scissors.

To me, 3 layers is the most ergonomic in use, but I can't get everything I want in a 3-layer SAK without going custom, so sometimes I carry 4 or 5. But only on the belt.

I either carry a champion plus or a wenger alpine backpacker. The plus has seven layers but doesn't really bother me much but I wish it didn't have the fish scaler. As for the backpacker I don't like it all that much the blade wiggles back and forth and the springs aren't tight like the Vic.

Some people don't want to, can't, or may not carry a multi-tool in their daily doings, but my lifestyle allows it, so I do. For years my EDC was a 6.5 oz. Swisschamp, and we got along just fine. Later, I spent years with a Super Tool, also no problem. I have found that belt carried, almost anything is tolerable up to 9 oz. or so. More than that, I feel it, but usually not a deal breaker.

I have wondered for years about the 1-3 layer crowd. Minimal you say... A Swiss Champ or CyberTool 41 or XLT being massive. My natural multitool is several times larger than a 91mm SAK. My hand closes around a Victorinox Explorer and it simply vanishes. What is the average size and weight of the average internet expert I wonder.
