Its made of the same materials in the handle.......elk, copper, brass, black paper liner. I wanted to take up the massive real estate of the snake skin with something that brought all of the colors of the overall project together........that was the thought anyway.
Give me a break man, its like the 3rd time I have worn shorts so far this spring.![]()
Sweet looking little blade there WW. If Todd is your maker I can almost picture a Magua with a Hornet handle with a deeper finger grove, slightly wider blade, and slightly more clippy tip. Sexy.
Holy Moly, Todd. You need to be drinking a big ol' Fosters can while carrying that thing, instead of that Bright Bush beer or whatever it is.
WW, the heat-treat colors on your 'dashi are also on top of the mill finish as delivered from the steel producer. So there are both colors and texture. When doing air-cooled steels you can get brighter colors if the surface is sanded much finer first. It wears like any surface prep, but will stick around quite awhile. You'll see it wear first where the kydex from the retention divot rubs between the first hole and the bevel. Oil-quenched steels will be shades of gray, brown, and black. In most cases the scale should come off, but I've left some un-sanded and liked the results for non-fancy stuff. A couple 1084 'dashi went out with a sand-blasted finish (except the bevel of course), and that was just completely matte black and looked quite cool. Trade and AC can chime in on out it's stood up - I don't have one in that finish myself. It should hold oil very well, but also moisture so it should be kept properly dressed.
ok, back to email and work.

Hormel chili I'm guessing.what ever they fed him while he was there has him farting up a storm LMAO
I helped move a buddy back to Philly from Camp Pendleton way back when. Land of the hoagie!I had a couple weeks to have a look around, he went to school near Kensington & Allegheny. Tough looking hood, older than most 'round here.
