Things That Really Dull a Knife

I cut fiberglass reinforced tape at work. No matter what blade steel I use, it is guaranteed I will have to resharpen.

vinyl or aluminum siding -- not such a good use for a knife
..and cutting anything against concrete really seems to do a blade in (I wouldn't really)

game pelts. always gut/skin/dress from the skin underneath. trying to slice through the pelt to open up the abdomen will dull the blade quick

^same here.

fiberglass headliners for cars are terrible! dulled an edge faster than anything else i have encountered.

Gritty animal hide, such as moose or bear, will take the edge off anything!

Ive skinned a lot of beaver and they have a gritty textured thick leather like your talking about..The are open skinned so I always used a seperate knife to make the opening cuts with. Hogs too..Aggrevating animals to skin..

a friend cutting guitar/violin strings did wonders for my now newly serrated tenacious :grumpy:
