Off Topic Thinking about picking up another crazy addiction..

The place I bought my lower from runs the background on the lowers as long gun and pistol so there is no question if you use it for either one.
Yeah but...

I've run across some dumbass ffl who did it the wrong way, and some dumbass leo who don't know the difference between a pistol and an illegal rifle. Cheaper to have it marked pistol than get out of jail even though you were right.

I don't know exactly how they do it but they are a professional shop and do it the same way on all their lowers. They are a closed shop now doing customs builds and Ceracoat work. Wish they would reopen to the public. The Fighting Sheepdog in Oak Ridge TN.

Just checked. Fighting Sheepdog has there retail shop back open. Need to stop by there one day.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have expensive taste, and like things to look pretty while functioning flawlessly. I am ok spending around $2,000 (minus optics and mount). Hopefully I can save some money and do the assembly myself. I'm just having a hard time hearing back from companies. I emailed DTech and another one or two Thursday and haven't heard back. I just emailed Precision Firearms last night.

You will have one heck of an AR if you have 2K to spend and do the build yourself.
I think I would put 600 to 800 in the AR and go with something like a Trijicon ACOG for the optic.

Or did like I do and buy multiple uppers. I'm a fool for the ar platform. I really like the ar57 though I may move it on since my kids can handle more recoil now

Precision firearms makes excellent uppers. Very accurate and reliable. I've been eyeballing the Larue 6.5 grendel. For the money, seems like a nice setup.

I haven't even considered a suppressor yet. That may be a little further down the road!

Thanks for the affirmation on PF, Skinnypimp. I will have to check out Larue. Obviously a great name..

This is a spikes build I did with a registered yhm titanium 5.56 suppressor.its my kids deer rifle because of low recoil and adjustable stock. Beneath it is a Ruger charger with Sparrow surpresses just because it's fun. IMG_20170916_103715~2.jpg

Point being it's a really decent gun and the whole setup including Magpul furniture and lower-mid optics (Nikon base and compensated 5.56 3-9x40) was around 2k. But half that is surpressor

I have only 1 production AR left and that's LWRC SPR. I've built an ar 15 and ar10 lowers and 4 uppers. The upper I'm digging right now is my 6.5 with 22" barrel. It shoots about 1 MOA at 100 yds but about .5 -.75moa at the 200 yd line.

I have built nearly a dozen for myself and countless dozens for my friends and family. I'll never buy an off the shelf AR again.

I highly recommend splurging on your trigger, I personally prefer the Larue mbt2s over anything I've tried.

Also get a good barrel, faxon and ballistic advantage are superb for the money, they are more capable than most shooters. Aero precision makes great uppers and lowers and they won't break the bank

Aero m5 build (AR10) is an all time favorite of my builds with two other favorites that I didn't build.
