I should also point out that I'm not used to using a knife with such a large recurve, so I'm still learning where the sweet spot is. It's fun to practice though.![]()
How much did that work cost at Razor's Edge? I have 3 CG BB13's and i may want the same FFG on one or all of them
I will have both the CG and BG at the GTG. Hope to have them stripped and edge reprofiled by then.
Check the "INFI in the woods" camping trip thread,,, post #114So I'm curious --- now that this and possibly a few other REK13's have been out there and used --- what's the performance update?
I'm particularly curious to see if the chopping performance of the REK13 is greater than a BB13 in Battle Grade with a reprofiled edge.
Now if the BB13CG factory was stripped and the edge was reprofiled -- how much more UMPH would it have in raw chopping power compared to the REK13?

The REK performance is excellent. We had a chance to compare it to some other BB13's at my camping trip a month ago, including a CG BB13 with a reprofiled edge, and the REK version was the clear winner in terms of performance and balance. That's not to say the BB13 isn't a fine knife in stock form, or with a reprofiled edge, but the full flat re-grind makes it a different beast entirely.

Josh --- excellent work man. I'll be texting you to inquire further and pick your brain.Just finished this one up today (mainaman, heading your way monday!)... surprisingly enough it seemed to perform decent (good bite, blade heavy though) prior to the regrind (was already stripped down), but now it's really dialed in with lowered edge geometry and better balance. Due to the weight distribution on this thing you can really generate some heavy power swings. On this I put a polished convex edge *almost* blended in to the primary.
