This is a Cigar Thread

well i am still trying to find the best hand made cigar, if that even is real. But honestly MIAMI SUITES CIGARS are very good for the price i usaly get a pack of 5 for just about $4. yea sounds like crappy cigars but they arent that bad at all pretty smooth and the thing i hate most is the after taste...u know when u taste like u bit into the cigar...wel MIAMI SUITES CIGARS dont have that ...well not to much....

what cigars dont have that also...maybe u all can enlightin me...

Also i use altoid gum and it helps after do u all have any trade tricks that i have yet to discover?

the trick to beating the cigar aftertaste is a glass of good scotch. The alcohol content dissolves the tar and other smoke residue from inside your mouth, which actually compliments the smokiness of the scotch.

Not too long ago, I picked up two boxes of Cuban cigars. I was out of the country, so I wasn't breaking any rules. My first legit cubans were 25 Montecristo No.2 and 25 Cohiba Esplendidos (Limited Edicion). They were good. I would say they were very good. Were they worth the price I paid? Yes! (I am a cheap bastard and negotiated a decent price.) But, were these two boxes worth the same amount to me as six boxes of my favorite Dominicans? Hell No!
When this embargo dies and Cubans become available to the general public in the USA, there will be another "fashionable" boom in cigars. The prices will go all haywire and those who are not in the "know" will make things interesting for those of us who know what the hell we are talking about. I am hopeful that the end of the embargo will eventually drive non-cuban cigar prices down.

I smoke one a day, usually local Te-Amo Meditation at 6" by 42 ring size.

Cubans are legal here, my brother likes Rey del Mundo Grandes de España (7 1/2" by 38 ring size), at about $4 US a piece not bad at all really.

P.S. Cigar boxes are useful for keeping knives and other stuff, I have lots of them.

If you ever get a chance compare a Montechristo from cuba and a domestic knockoff. I was surprised how much smoother it was as well as a more lasting flavor. I agree that alot of non-cubans are better but I really prefer the Cuban monty's.

I've had about 4 legitimate Cubans in my life... 3 gigantic Cohibas and one Monte (no. 2 I think... it was good sized) The Cohibas were smoked out with my runnin' buds and were fantastic, gave me a MONSTER nicotine buzz though. The Monte was smoked at my wedding reception and was absolutely fantastic, not as strong as the Cohibas, but maybe better "taste". All were well worth the major price I paid. All were authentic, and were obtained from a secret source to me. I have had several other "Cubans" that were obvious fakes to me, but decent cigars anyway.
My go to's have been LaGloria Cubanas. I used to favor the ones made in Miami, but I haven't been able to find those in at least 10 years. The Dominican ones are pretty good too. I favor a "strong" cigar usually. Other ones that have been good: Arturo Fuente Opus and Hemingway classic, Camacho, Romeo y Julieta. Sad to say, I haven't had a good stogie in too long to admit. Guess I gotta get a fishing trip planned.;)

I'd love to try a cuban. But there's just too many fakes out there and everyone thinks they have the real thing. I'd only trust the cigar was genuine, if I knew it came from a La Casa Del Habano location(branch?).

CAO Cameroon/La Aurora 1495 fan, but I like most CAOs, Upmann Cameroons and even a few Villazon factory sticks..

Hoping to try a Tatuaje a local tobacconist gave me

if ya have ver had a genuine cuban its easy to tell the fakes, lots of the fakes are also poorly made and fairly easy to spot, and the price, if ya find some cohibas for $5 USD each, it aint happening they are fake, also some of the bands are not well made/applied evenly/etc another indicator of a fake, if in doubt lite it up cubans have a certain "taste" others dont, i can tell just by smelling the smoke sometimes, i guess ya learn by experience i have been ripped offf a a time/2 lol, ya live and learn.

I might add that there are good and bad Cuban cigars, expensive and cheap Cuban cigars, there are Cuban made fakes, like you can go to Cuba and buy fake Cohibas over there.

I often say that it is more important to know what you like best than what is considered best, so if you find an inexpensive cigar that you like, great!. I once bought a bundle of 25 short filler cigars for under $10 US in San Andres, Mexico and they were fine with decent burn and draw, but you can also buy something poorly made and bad tasting over there for a much higher price.

I don't smoke, not cigarettes, cigars or pipes, but I have bought Swisher Sweets before for a friend, thats all he smokes. Where do they fall on the one to ten scale?

Also, I like the smell of a cigar store, but when they're lit, they smell like wet garbage.

I'd say 2. When I was younger, I was with a friend when he went looking for a pack of Swisher Sweets in a real cigar shop. Cigar store employee was actually pretty nice about it, wanted us to stick around so he could show us what was up. My young and stubborn friend, just wanted his Swisher Sweets. Took us like ten minutes to get out of there because of their conversation going around in a big circle.

On a one to ten scale, they fall to about -6. Something you buy when you are hammered, and all the White Hen convenience store has is these.

I smoke 2-3 cigars a week and vary from AF Don Carlos #2 to the Bauza Pyramid from Mike's Cigar in Florida. I also like the Double Chateau by A.F. and used to like the Partagas #10.

I have smoked my share of Cubans and just don't care for them. I think they're overrated and that the Dominicans are more consistent.

After 10 years I can't find my Zino cutter. Not happy! Should I go with a Xicar or get another Zino?

I smoke maybe 10 cigars a year. Believe it or not, I do consider myself as someone who LOVES cigars. Just don't get that many opportunities to kick back and spend an hour in solitude, especially since my dog died (from time to time, I'd smoke on while I walked him). I also love good whiskey but with cigars, I prefer a cup of good coffee. Hmmmm - nothing like it. Where I live, I can get Cubans any time I want, but they are NOT cheap and I just can't fathom blowing $15+ on a cigar, not with two little kids to feed. So mostly I enjoy my Dominicans. Great thread!

I see a couple places advertising buck a stick deals, anything on there for guy seeking a mild easy smoke, Not looking for cigar anobbery, just a good smoke at a buck

I used to get 10 cigars a week. now it's more like 5 a year. it is so hot on the porch in summer and the wife has no sympathy. In the cold time it is sometimes windy here in Central Fl, so it kills the fun then too. The other times I burn em all I can.

Going to Daytona for a couple days and will burn at least four! anyone know a decent cigar store in Daytona bch?

Personally I'd stick with the Zino...had mine for many years... and like it much better than the Xicar I bought. I smoke 5-6 a day and the Zino's cut thousands. Best o' luck.

Thanks for the input, I'm going back to Zino! I do cut alot with my knives but they just don't do as good a job as the Zino.

What are you guys using to humidify. I live in very dry Utah and the moisture gets sucked right out of my humidors. I keep two wood ones going by using a Humi-Care container, works well. I also have an Armored Humidor which keeps the cigars real nice with a Humi-Tube and a Humi-pak. I've stopped dealing with ones you need to charge and fill constantly.

Counterfeit Cubans are not as easy to spot as some may think. Most of the time when you are out of country, and you purchase a Cuban cigar you are in-fact buying a Cuban. Where most of the problem comes in is that due to the high brand recognition of Cohiba, Romeo y Julieta, Fonseca, etc..., there are several knock-off cigars that were made of tobacco grown in Cuba, but wrapped in knock-off bands. As previously stated in this thread the only place you know you are getting the real deal is a Casa De Habano. There have been "Cuban brand" counterfeits found in almost every International Airport's Duty-Free Stores and it is estimated that the fake Cuban business is a $100 million a year trade. With that many pesos at stake these guys are not just half-assing their efforts to produce counterfeit Cubans.
