chickenfried, I did the exact same thing with my dad's Xikar lighter, it hurt, but I couldnt stop laughing. :D

I like to smoke small cigars, usualy 15 to 20 minute ones. Unless its poker night, that calls for a Corona Grande or a Robusto. I like Don Tomas, Cuesta Ray, Ashtons, and also some very nice Dominicans that I got when I was there. They are called Don Lucas, and are only availible from the factory to keep prices down, like Swamp Rat. They are very nice, and acording to the owner, have been rated as in the same class as Fuente Opus X and the Gurkahs.

a wood cigar box (probably can grab an empty one free on your next visit to the cigar shop) and a cheap humidifier disk and a cheap digital humidity/temp readout. I just use an empty Ashton box as i never really have more than 10 cigars around.

About once a month I get together with several friends for a "smoker" where we smoke cigars, have some good Kentucky bourbon, and tell a few lies. Everybody brings a couple of cigars to put into a pot and we draw names for a winner. It's great way to get together and try new smokes and discuss the ones we have tried. So far, my favorites of the ones that I can afford are are El Creditos and LaGloria Cubanas (made by the same family).

Full of Lead,

I like the humidor, but what's up with the "Gilmore Girls" season DVD sets?

Nice work on that humi!

I LOVE cigars, and collect them and smoke them and obsess about them as much as I do about knives!

Here's my main humi it is absolutely stuffed now...these are old pictures...the secodnary humi is about a third the size, and then there are two desktops, one near the TV, and one in the office.
Will trade rare cigars for INFI!!

Hey fulloflead, you might want to isolate those ACIDs from everything else, they will contaminate.
Also, add to the list of must smokes, La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Lanceros and Ashton VSGs, especially the Sorcerer size

Fullolead,

I am the only male in my household.

Gillmore Girls, Reba, you name it. We have it.

Thank God for "24."

BTW, the actor who played David Palmer was on the cover of Cigar Aficionado recently. Kiefer Sutherland has also be on the cover of CA.

I have a story about Cigar Aficionado. I was walking in my neighborhood with two friends. One friend and I were discussing articles in Cigar Aficionado. Our other friend listened for a while and then interrupted us and asked, "Is there really a magazine called cigar, fish and auto?" We were rolling on the ground!

You laugh now, but in 5 years he'll be a millionare.

HOLY CRAP!

About 5 head hairs and 9 tripple by-pass surgeries in that bunch. :D I kidd, I kidd.

But seriously, why is it that every time you see a photo of a "cigar lover" you see a bald old man? Young people like Cigars too.

The new Wafe from Acid is prety good.

:D :D :D Not a group that you would want to hang out with huh? Oh well, I guess I am officially a member of the old farts club even though I do still have my hair.

I just really got into cigars about a year ago and some of the guys in that group can tell you everything you would want to know about fine cigars (and knives, art and a few other things). I am still learning.

I just placed an order to restock my humidor: Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Perfectos, Partagas Almirantes, LaGloria Cubana Double Coronas and some El Credito Small Coronas.

Because the old cigar guys don't like ACIDs? The store I frequent in, always 20s to middle aged men, only a few walk in that are older

WOW! I love the pics of the really fine humidors....
I never had much luck with any of the wood ones...Yeah it was Spanish Cedar and I did it slow..

I haven't smoked a cigar in a coupla months cause of a Pulmonary Embolism...
That's gettin done with and now I can smoke cigars and pipes again.

Here's a pic of a freezer that I converted over to a humidor.

I think that a humidor is like a fish tank....BIGGER is better. I find it easy to hold humidity with a hunk of floral foam sitting in a pan with a 50/50 mixture of propylene glycol and distilled water.
Propylene glycol is available at RV stores...Water line antifreeze...or grain feed stores.
Also I lay up cigars and let them mellow and age a bit with a big humidor.
I think I have but one LGC Charlemagne left from 10 years ago...
My fav is the Arturo Fuente Double Chateau in Maduro wraooer.
I think I've seen them for ~ $4 retail.
Cigars are like music....
You like em or you don't......
:)
All tastes are different so try lots of em....

That was fine Marquetry (spelling is way wrong) on you box you made, Longbeachguy :)

I want to have a nice display humidor ...someday....
I see them on cigarbid.com that Fulloflead led me to...

Having a humidor bigger than a desktop model is great for indecisive people!

I just got mine, so I'm endlessly rearranging it. And when it comes to choosing a cigar, forgetaboutit!

I just pulled all the Acids and put them in their own humidor and they FILLED it! I had a bunch of CAO Moontrance, which I like, that I put inside a little wooden travel humidor down inside my footlocker humidor.

As soon as I send TOB9595 all my pipe tobacco, I'm going to put all my little cigarello-sized cigars inside the humidity-controlled & sealed glass jar I was using for that.

This footlocker is taking a long time to come up to 70% humidity. The guages keep saying 60%, but all the cigars feel (and sound) perfect.
