This is getting ridiculous - where the hell is my knife?

It also bothers me that neither Lionsteel or DPx has offered any information on the nature of the defect or how they intend to correct it. It forces the customer to conclude that they don't know or are trying to hide something.
This was a real debacle in every way.

We must always learn from our mistakes.

The second run, that is already in production, has some important changing. Geometry and structure. In a short time, togheter with RYp, we will inform all of you.
All the feedback and problems of the first production have been important to improve this beautiful knife

Thank you for your reply Gianni. I think you have done a good job in dealing with the situation and communicating with the knife community. I am looking forward to new products from you in the future and totally love my SR1 ( i was one of the people who pre-bought the knife) In regards to geometry, is the problem caused by the steepness of the angle on the part of the blade that meets the front of the lock? I think somewhere i saw a reference of that angle being changed on newer knives, I would love to know if this is the cause of the problem.

This has nothing to do with the subject at hand, but last year I had a brand new Walther PPK/S start to fall apart after only a couple hundred rounds.

Sent it back in early July. Got it back December 10th.

Ok so wait a minute - you have sent all production knives to the US? So apparently they are all sold out?

From my understanding there was supposed to be a very large "2nd shipment" a few weeks ago?

If you are already working on a 2nd run, then it seems the first run is sold out and dealers were allowed to pre order WELL ABOVE & BEYOND what was actually being produced, which doesn't make any sense.

If there are no more production knives left I'm just going to cancel my order with Knifeworks and get my money back. It's already been tied up for almost 5 months.

Just out of curiosity, what is your ETA For sending this 2nd production run to DPX?

I'm curious also..and will any of the returns for lock failure of the first run be replaced with knives from the updated second run?

I would also like to know the answer to this question. I sent my knife in a few weeks ago and DPX said they were sending me a replacement as soon as they get a shipment. And they said the shipment is supposed to get there this week.

My hest went to dpx on the 27th of march and its replacement is enroute to me as of yesterday. Tracking says that it has passed through the San Diego sort facility and has delivery confirmation and insurance. Out of the six emails I have sent to dpx, I have received replies within eight hours.

I am as disappointed as anyone else regarding the lockup issues. Hopefully the replacement is solid and they have worked out the kinks.

As for my experience with dpx customer service, it's been top notch. I have received quick replies and accurate information. There seems to be some whose experience agrees with mine and others who are dramatically different. This is very puzzling. All that I can offer to those who have had the opposite experience is a list of what I have done. This in no way makes the assumption that you have done any different. My emails were inquisitive and professional. I made no assumptions or assertions as to what I expected them to do. I merely asked them their policy and timeline. I updated them with my shipping details and thanked them for their quick reply. I followed up with them after two weeks politely requesting an update on the status of my warranty return if they had one. They replied in turn with the info that a shipment was coming in from Italy this week and that my replacement would be sent to me as soon as they received that shipment.

Update: Yesterday I received an email and tracking number from DPx. Apparently my knife recently arrived in the U.S. and is now on it's way from California to me. I will update again when I receive the knife and find out what was done (repair/replacement/etc.)

I also sent my knife in 3 weeks ago and it is in route to my house for dellivery as we speak. I was actually suprized at the quick turn around. I am still a little concerned as to what the "new" knife is going to be like. I just hope it doesnt develop any kind of new issues or the same old ones that my previous one had.

I will post an update after it gets here.

No, not you. But the fact that you too had the same experience really makes me wonder....

Initially, mine was SOLID. Unfortunately, the lock bar was also solid, meaning it was almost impossible to unlock the the knife without using two hands. I tried to fix this by bending the lock out slightly.

"I attempted self adjustment on my knife and now it's jacked."

Moot point since it was jacked before I opened the box. Plus, bending the lock bar over and back should not affect the contact forces along the vertical axis of the lock face. If up and down blade-play developed, it would have happened over time anyway. No excuse for the poor lock design. Get real.

Well, I just received the new replacement hest folder in the mail. This is the 2nd production run knife and I must say that it is a completely different knife from the first one I had.

The new one locks up solid and feels completely different The action is smooth as glass and no blade play what so ever. And the fit and finish is ten times better than the previous one I had. Everything is nice and tight and works like a dream. It feels just as good if not better than any of my other high end knives, benchmade, emerson, etc..

I think that with the new 2nd run replacements and purchases, everyone will be much happier.

Great news!! Anybody else get any replacements and have any comments on the quality, fit/finish and operation?

This is good news. Mine is on it's way, I should get it early next week. I'm hoping for a 2nd production run as my replacement...was it specified anywhere on the knife or box which run it was, or could you just tell by handling/looking at it?
