Very nice knife.

As for the nail nick, that is a very personal call. I have family members with arthritis and they find it impossible to use some items because of this. So, if that’s what it takes in order for someone to use & enjoy a knife - do it !
I would probably go with a milled out completely slot, that followed the curve of the blade if I wanted to make it easier to open.

I've been using it quite a bit and have almost forgotten the nail nick idea. Seems to be pulling more easily or I'm developing the required touch.

Still, ;) if I were to go with a solution I'm inclined to agree with Pointshoot777 - a milled out slot that follows the curve of the knife. Likely not gonna' happen. Of course, I'll post an update if it does. :)

I wouldn't mess up this beautiful blade with a nail nick. Just me... If it's pinchable, let it be neat. Again, just me...The cleaner the blade, the better the knife (just made up on the fly... but I hope it hits home).
I agree. Some knives require them, but not that one--plenty of blade to pinch. But then, I'm beginning to understand the pain of arthritis. I may change my mind in a few years!

Thanks guys! :) well, the Albaceteña usually comes with no nail nick or a tiny one, it tends to be a clean blade, I try to stay loyal to the original aesthetic, however, I understand the pain of arthritis and parkinson since I suffer both, I have also a very damaged neck, so you can imagine the pain is working for hours in a folding knife, sometimes I have to stop working for one day or two since I cannot longer stay still.

Since I am familiar with thatt pain I totally agree with your solution Pointshoot777, in fact, I have done that before for some of my customers, sometimes I have even put a thumbstud on it, it's not the most beautiful thing in the world, but it's functional and it trully makes a difference to people with problems on their bones, or even missing one hand. A folding knife has to be usable by the users and if it doesn't it's a piece of junk, it doesn't matter how it looks.

Said so, if any of you need anything from me at anytime, please, all of you feel free to ask me for any customization needed, I can adapt my blades to the user's preferences :).

Have a nice day you all (Pinemon thanks a lot!), if you have any other idea of how to ease the opening I would like to hear out all of them, it's all about consciousness-raising

Yeah, looking forward!
RayseM RayseM does your knife lock?

Yes indeed! The lock bar is external - the decorative metal band running along the back of the knife that you can see here is pinned on the side. This device exerts quite a bit of pressure to hold the blade open. It is released by the palanquilla - the lifted tab shown here in the photo. It is the mechanism that lifts the lock bar out of the notch in the blade. The notch is very evident in the 2nd photo on the 1st page.

Thanks Pinemoon! I have already answered you back to your email ;)!

José's work is some of the most beautiful I have seen. Saving myself for one of his knives. In fact, I plan to get several, one at a time.

That is a beauty. He is quite an artisan.

Thanks a lot Vicen, I hope you know you have a friend on Spain, we will be in touch!

Ray, thanks a lot for being this supportive, I can show with words how thankful I am :), thanks for being the embassador of my work and explain everyone how the palanquilla works (seriously, my English is worst than a drunken seal trying to bark), I couldn't explain it better myself. Thanks a lot for lending me a hand everytime and taking your time to answer everyone here, as said, you have a friend here so anytime you need me just give me a call ;).

By the way, how did you manage to take such a splendid photo !? it's gorgeous! (Could I borrow it for my instagram? if so, let me know yours and I will redirect it to you as well!)
