This One Is For BigBiscuit WINNERS SELECTED SEE POST #240

You folks are awesome. I just looked at the exchange and knives sold and for sale with proceeds going to Bob, amazing. You have made my Christmas:). I have never experienced this much compassion and generosity anywhere before. Merry Christmas and may God bless you all.

Very nice effort put forth from one of the best forums on the planet. Best wishes and fight the good fight.

Having been through this myself, I'm well aware the hardships placed on the entire family and it is certainly refreshing in today's times to know the way of today's world hasn't reached everywhere yet. There are still caring and wonderful people to be found.

Pleased to participate.

The breeze of Love is blowing strongly across this porch, and I'm glad you can feel it Bob.
Also glad to hear your positive update.

Merry Christmas to all!

Prayers and smoke from New Jersey.
Be brave, Bob. Feel the love of this community.
Merry Christmas

Donation sent. I hope it helps. Bob, we want to keep you on the porch as long as possible. Merry Christmas.

Donation sent Bob...along with some sweet smelling exhaust!

(Don't worry everyone, Bob has a killer Harley. Hard to tell this shot of me was taken at 60mph)

I am really impressed with the quality of folks here on the porch. Truly fantastic to see that there are many people left in the world that have a good heart. I am blessed to be a part of the porch.

Are you reading this thread and the touching display of fellowship but have not contributed yet?

Why not? You don't know Bob (BigBiscuit)? Guess what, neither do I. We have never so much as exchanged a word. But here is what I decided to do....think about it.

I am relatively new to the porch and I have a growing love of traditionals, fostered mainly by good people here. I have been planning to purchase a new GEC and trying to decide between two patterns that I really like. I figured I would pull the trigger after Christmas. Then I read about Bob and I read this thread.

Guess what? My next knife can wait. Knives are purely discretionary for me, as they are for most of us. I can earn my living tomorrow without one. I took the funds I planned on spending on that next traditional folder and I sent it to BigBiscuit and his family. I won't miss those funds and I won't miss that next GEC. If I can alleviate one moment of stress with Bob's family, it will bring me more satisfaction than all knives I have ever lusted after.

My family has been touched by cancer and some of the same struggles Bob and his family are going through. If you are reading this I bet you or someone you know has experienced a tough spot with health or finances or both.

Let that next knife wait. It will be there when you are ready. Send those funds to BigBiscuit instead.

Happy Christmas,
Andy

Donation made. I love this forum - especially the porch. Cancer is a bitch and it has probably effected all of us in some way.

What's crazy to me is the complete randomness in which it works. I lost my stepdad to throat cancer 2 years ago, but he never smoked a day in his life. He fought like hell through it all and was an inspiration to so many people. I'm blessed to have had such an amazing man as a major influence in my life.

I don't know BigBiscuit personally, but I know of him. I'm glad to help in any way I can. Keep fighting the good fight and know that you have an army of supporters behind you.

I'm one of those people who come to BF primarily for the information. I don't really post very much because I don't think I'm any kind of expert or have much to contribute. But I do love this forum and the people who have worked so hard to make it such a unique place.

Just sold a knife on the exchange for Bob. Would someone who knows Bob's Paypal address please PM it to me and I will transfer the funds on to him ? :)

it's in the first post.

Apologize for the mix up. I somehow thought that the address in the first post was different from Bob's Paypal. Too much going on I reckon. ;):D:D:D

My wife and I are floored by the outpouring of support and generous donations by you all.
Christmas was made just a bit better because of this. I bucked the Dr orders yesterday for Christmas and had my daughter, her husband and my grandson over for a visit. We took good precautions to sanitize and clean. I haven't seen them since Thanksgiving, so it was a very good day. My grandson and I have always been extremely close. He's 15 now and understands what's going on, but he has been visibly upset over my condition but we had some very nice time together yesterday and talked a lot about hope and positive stuff, but also about the not so good side of things. I was quite worn out after their visit, but it was a wonderful day. A very big part of making it a wonderful day is all my brothers and sisters here easing some stress for my family.
I have not counted the many numbers of folks that donated, but so far you all have sent a total of just over a staggering $3,000. I have transferred some funds to our bank so that my wife can write some checks and pay a few of those bills. She's retired already. I've been on disability through my company for a year now and believe it or not have to fight with Social Security to try to get a permanent disability.
Thank you all so very, very much.
Hoping for a better New Year for all.

Keep the wind in your face and the shiny side up brother.

Great news, Bob, keeping your spirits high is half the battle. I'm sure the visit, in spite of it's tiring you out, had a very positive effect. I just bought another knife for your donation (from Will Power), and am sure the funds will continue to come in. Keep the faith, Brother!

So glad you got to visit with your family Bob. God Bless you my brother and I also believe the donations will keep on coming. Great to see your avatar this morning.

Great you could see your Grandson Bob, most important for both of you.

As I live in Europe it's a bit more tricky selling knives to US members, but as Jeff wrote, I was delighted to be able to sell him a knife for donation. I'd sell more if I can, or if you fancy a knife of mine, it's yours.

Warmest regards, Will

Glad to hear the visit went so well Bob :) I was hoping that you'd be able to see your family this holiday even though I knew your Doctor's advised against.
