This Weeks Video

In conversation with Phillip he mentioned he has no bog oak and I thought "HOW?" which then spawned a few ideas for Andy's consideration ...

1) Besides wife/significant other restrictions and limit of funds, are there any guidelines for employees on count of knives they can purchase, which knives they can purchase, etc? How do the folks working there control themselves when an absolutely must have piece is born? Do they get a look in their eyes like the Dad in "Christmas Story" when he starts thinking about turkey? Or does the novelty wear off because you see the knives all the time?

2) A brief interview with each staff member showing their absolute favorite knife and also their absolute favorite Fiddleback. (or maybe WAS, Osprey, etc.) Pick a set of topics for each: How long have they owned it? Do they use it or is it a safe queen? Why is it the best or their favorite?

3) My thoughts then ran away a bit and I thought it might be funny to ask how many knives they have vs. how many their wives/significant others think they have. That could put people at risk though.

4) Maybe showing staff Fiddleback collections?

Bottom line I guess is showcasing the staff or what its like to be part of the staff.

We're gonna feature Phillip on todays videos. Great suggestion.

I would like to see a condensed step by step video of a knife's creation. I don't know much about machining or working with steel and I think this could be educational and entertaining as well. I've seen pictures, but video may capture more of the labor involved.
As such, I would also like to request a well endowed brunette female to play the role of Andy in this video if possible[emoji6]

lol .. in theory, that sounds good .. but in reality, that would probably be closer to The Crying Game with these jokers.

Awesome video this week guys. Nice to give Phillip some face time. Good to know that Phillip and I have the same favorite Fiddleback. The next one. :D I also want to point out the second half of the survival tip. Always call heads! :D
Oh, I also wanted to add that my favorite thing about Fiddleback Forge knives is that they're made at Fiddleback Forge. Couldn't ask for a better, more talented, and nicer group of knife makers.

Man, thank you OD. Great post.

Vote for Phillip! :D

Nice video this week and good to see Phil. Andy, you get better in front of the camera every week.

Question - in the early days, there were lots of wood laminated handles. Will they ever make a comeback?

Awesome video again. Loved it and spilled my coffee laughing [emoji3]

Great to see Phillip and get to know more about how he started with the forge. Andy...don't lose this guy he is an absolute asset to Fiddleback Forge!!

I'm with Phillip as well. My next fiddleback is my favourite [emoji3]

Great job guys [emoji106]

thanks for the kind words fellas.

im not sure if you could tell or not but i was nervous as hell:D

Phillip, you are pretty darn cool guy. I've emailed in several times looking for something specific and you consistently and quickly provided a polite answer. Your knowledge and help on this forum is invaluable. It was nice to see you with Andy this week!

No worries on being nervous. It's understood and you came across like you, genuine and real with a good sense of humor, just a little nervous. Like anything else, each time will get easier.

Fiddleback Forge Rules!

Can we see Allen in one of the videos sometime? I'd love to see/hear more about him and his work too.

thanks
that means alot to me.

Allen is slated for next week. How Allen got a warning is unbeknownst to me.
I had literally walked into the Office from sanding handles and Andy walks over to my desk and asked " How do you feel about being in this weeks video?"
Me: "Not good but Ok"

If i would have known I would have atleast worn a shirt w/o a hole in it and put some beard lotion in. The mask reeks havoc on it. :D

Absolutely right Abe.
General Manager, sander, Friday thread builder, shipping specialist, and most importantly customer rep via forum, telephone and email. An absolute asset.
