I got your back, Andy ... the genesis of FK knives

That's the worst of three file knives I made when all I had was an old ass horizontal 4" belt sander and some worn out Nicholson files. I'm amazed that nobody has ever posted them, and up until now, I was very happy about that.

I believe all the guys around here have some "gems" e\
Here is one from Allen

Dylan is embarassed at that knife, but all I see is the progress he has made. Allen too. And myself as well.

Awesome video, great to see Dylan and get to know more about him.

Going camping with the in laws before xmas, need 3 jars of the tactical gravy [emoji3]

I was waiting for the climactic hug and big wet smooch at the end of the video. :p

You guys are a kick. Thanks for sharing the backstory on your humble beginnings. You have done well pilgrims!

Phil

Allen has made progress?

Mais yea cher. Allens knives were ugly as shit at one time for sure. I've had apprentices that just 'ding' and got it. But thats not how it was for me, and Allen was like me. We had to grind at it to get our knives to be pretty. We were both just too knife bit and stubborn to give up by knife after knife coming out ugly.

Lol, loved the video! But...you will need to offer the Tactical Gravy in olive drab and desert tan also if you want to maximize your market :)

It's a good thing you and Allen know my sense of humor..Of course it's all done in jest. I have seen, held and gasped at his early stuff compared to what he does now, worlds apart..

Also loved the video, getting to know Dylan on a bit of a personal level as well as seeing more of that from Andy. It was nice having the apprentices listed and I spent a little time looking into each to see their works. Dylan has a pretty nice website going.

Now, just to attempt being funny ...
I've checked all the knives in my safe for comparison tests and am not sure I have the poop test mastered yet. I'm concerned about a few. Some examples of what does/doesn't pass might help. I still don't see what's wrong with Dylan's file knife and am thinking it could be poop-like and I am just not seeing it. Maybe its the mini-choil? :-)

I guess the shape kinda depends on the fiber in your diet.....

i would definitely say Allen has progressed

I have one of Allen's early knives too, and there is a huge difference between what he was doing back then, and what he is doing these days. His newer work like this Hunter is just fabulous.
