What if it's just 112's this year??? Is it really worth stocking up on 112's??? There's been no announcement of blade upgrades on 112's, so they're not good for that...
And how many sailors does any one family know??? Aside from Michael George, that is...

...EW...EW...Great question... :thumbup:I was wondering if you guys were all asleep...
Just out of curiousity - do women sailors get tattoos, too???![]()
I saw them today in Nashville, TN. Both sets looked nice. I really like the jigged bone handles on the 372 / 380 mini set, but have problems buying Chinese Buck knives.
So, do you guy's use these knives or keep them in the box as a collectable?

Any pix of the etching yet?
I just got home from the new superdooper "World's Largest Wal-Mart", at least that's how they advertise it here in Marion, Il. they have both gift sets in a center isle display.
The redbone does indeed look VERY nice, I don't like Muskrat or baby-trappers, so I passed on those, but I did buy a 112, for $25.00 how can you not? This is my first 112 and I really like how it sets in the hand, fit and finish are great, the black sheath is well done and the little "Buck" knifestand is cool. Lockup is typical rock solid Buck, I can see this being a nice EDC folder.
There is one thing I want to say though, even though I kinda hate to. If you are buying one of these 112's, LOOK at them closely first. The first one I picked up, I noticed that it literally had the very tip, about 1/8th" of the blade broken off. I checked about an even dozen of them and found 1 more like that also. I am kinda shocked they got out of the factory, and the broken off piece was not inside the blister pack, which sorta makes it seem like they were put in the packaging like that.
PS, the person working in Sporting Goods did say that whatever they have of these gift sets now is all they will get.

I was in a local Walmart today and found two of what I would assume are this years holiday specials. One is a 112 packaged in a tin with a Hoyt Buck commemorative etch on the blade. The other is two knife set which contains a 372 Muskrat and a 380 Mini Trapper, both with jigged red bone scales, also packaged in a tin. I realize the slip joints are offshore production but they do make a nice looking set. Both tins were priced at $25. Happy Holidays to all.![]()

Blister pack??? What happened to the tins???![]()
The tins are now packed in a blister pack
Got a problem then...my local Wally World doesn't allow opening sealed items...the yellow box Bucks they will let you look at (especially if you explain the tang stamp dating), but no opeing the shrink wraps or any sealed boxes...
