Thoughts and questions on my new Strider SMF CC

Just received my new SMF CC today and feelings are mixed.

First off, it's rock solid...NO blade play...solid...sharp...all in all, what someone would expect for paying $500+

Now... the things that somewhat concern me is what i need input from you guys on.

The blade is not centered. Not to the point of hitting the sides, but off. Also, there are some light scratches on the G-10. It's not "bad", but enough to piss you off.

I'm not too concerned because it's a Strider, and i don't want to baby it per se.

Not sure if the scratches happened at Strider, or at the distributor.

How would you guys feel:confused:

We need photos.

I always say photos or it didn't happen.

Yes, i have the photos, but i looked, and i don't think i can upload them...

Looks like i'm going to have to get a paid membership:p

You can host them at image shack or photobucket ect then post them here.

From what I've heard, Strider doesn't exactly baby their knives during machining, so most of the time the marks are from them. Though personally, I wouldn't let it bother you unless it was some kind of "art" knife like a Unique Graphic Sebenza and there was a big scratch on the design. As for an off-center blade, it doesn't matter much if it doesn't affect opening and closing and there's no blade play.

That didn't happen at Strider, do you know how hard it is to get that kind of scratch on the G10 they use?

Send it back to the dealer and tell them you want another one.

I personally think thats unacceptable. I would send it back and get a new one. A knife like that shouldn't have those problems.

I agree! I would not keep that one with the blade off center like that! I would send it back for sure! Jim is right! Kevin

I would be upset about the scratches without a doubt. Centering not so much bc it can be fixed usually.

I wouldn't worry about the off-center blade, but like Jim said the scratches on the G-10 are rather strange.

Congratulations on your new knife, the SMF CC is one of my favorite Strider designs.

I own two Strider knives and can tell you that the blade centering would piss me off (it's a pet peeve of mine). The G10 scratch not so much...

My SnG was bought new and it was shipped to me in a plastic bag inside a shipping box. I've heard they come that way from the factory , so your knife could have gotten scratched anywhere along the way.

If it doesn't make you happy contact the seller 1st and then Strider...no reason to be unhappy after spending a chunk of money.

I got my last SmF CC directly from Strider and I can tell you they wrap them up very good and it was in excellent shape.

sheesh....now i'm getting aggravated...calling the distributor now

Now you are talking! It is supposed to be a new knife and you are the one who should decide if you want to put marks on it or keep it new!:thumbup:
