Thoughts on CRK Elforyn

Are you talking about sanding the Elforyn to get some different texture? It has this smooth, more plastic-y feel to it that does feel a bit like ivory only not cool to the touch as much. I think if I were to sand it the results would be fugly, though.
I concur, I think it would mess up the look for sure. It seems to be more of a "for looks" knife than a workhorse IMO.

One other factor I think worth pointing out is that CRK won't be able to re-blast the handles of the Elforyn models due to that material not really being a typical micarta.

What makes you say this? With the regular Micarta do they just reblast the scales, Micarta & all? I always thought they did something to preserve the Micarta in the process (by way of assumption only).

Anyhow, I really like my small Elforyn. For whatever reason, the regular micarta 31’s while nice, never really enticed me into making a purchase (maybe because I already have micarta 21’s).

I called and asked them because one of the things I like about the Micarta models as users is the option to re-blast. They confirmed that they will not be able to do that with the Elforyn. Their normal Micarta just gets blasted along with the titanium and comes out looking great, recently had this done with red linen Micarta and the Micarta definitely came back quite a bit smoother and cleaner looking. This Elforyn stuff I believe needs to be polished so that process wouldn't work the same, so the re-blast won't be an option according to who I spoke with.

Glass blast is like Frank’s Red Hot for my CRKs… I put that s**t on EVERYthing. Got a large Inkosi natural micarta getting it as we speak.
That's gonna look great! It's a more robust user finish as well in my experience so far, doesn't show the snail trails as much. Though I know some people love the snail trails so may prefer the sand blast for that reason!

I love the feel of it, it’s a good move by CRK. The regular finish was my biggest complaint about CRK before.

I got a small 31 in Elforyn I'd let go for retail and eat the shipping and fees on. I just wanted to try CRK and Elforyn and enjoy chasing drops, but I decided I don't like the Elforyn and do like the 31, so I am looking for a plain.
How about a picture of it?

Wanted to share a quick update, I sent my small seb back to Crk and shared the concerns I had regarding the elforyn. No questions asked, they replaced the inlays, hand picked replacements with some incredible grain, I had double silver lugs installed while they were at it. Just about two weeks and just got it back today. Couldn’t be happier, Crk is such a great company to deal with!!! Also got my new large seb tanto in magnacut today, heck of a mail day!!! Can’t wait to start putting that one to work!

I'm sure it's fine as a well-supported thin slab. I have a block of it and included a chunk of it in a multi component handle. It was frighteningly soft to work, much softer than any micarta, so I'm not sure if or in what application I would use it again.

How the heck did you get a Magnacut that fast!?!? When did you order it?

Back maybe 10-12 years ago, when CRK was using ivory (legally, maybe from mammoth), a couple of people commented on BF that when they put their ivory/light mammoth Mnandi's or small Sebenza's in their 5th pocket, they leeched blue from the demin, and they had to send them to CRK and I'm not sure if they cleaned the scales somehow or they replaced them, IDK.

I never noticed the grain pattern that OP desires on any actual ivory knife I have seen. Ivory was smooth and honestly looked kinda like OP's knife.

Based on the color leeching issue, I stopped putting light colored mammoth knives in my jeans pockets. And I always wondered how stabilized ivory or mammoth, which I believe all of these materials are stabilized with resin or something, could absorb dye so easily.
