thoughts on strider SNG!

the timing of this thread is very strange.....


i am also a busse enthusiast, and i was hankering for a nice folder......then i read millions of strider vs. sebenza threads......


then after i learned all i could about these folders, i traded into one of these:


strider MSC RC NM SNG (strider acronyms are almost as bad as busses):

MSC RC NM SNG = Mick Strider Custom Recurve Nightmare Grind SNG....
 
that's just plain nasty looking (in a very good way)

I don't envy you when that needs sharpening. I've just been trying to strop my strider but the heat treat is something else. My Busse knives get a mirror polish pretty quick. I must have done about 50 - 75 passes on each side with new compound and it hasn't made a difference. I'm tempted to get it on the stones but don't want to scratch up the blade :o

yes, I suck at sharpening !! get em sharp but make em ugly !

i planned on using it as an edc, but i am wavering on that.....if it ever needs sharpening, it is definitely going back to strider for the spa treatment....


if i do carry it, i will only use it for self defense......my cutting chores can be handled by my little buck 373 3-bladed stockman, and my classic SAK...


this blade might be just a bit too valuable to carry....if i were to use it in a self defense situation, it would no doubt get confiscated by the police.....

i have no desire to lose $800 worth of blade to the police......what if they "accidently" lose it in their evidence room???


i think i'll stick with my spyderco harpy for my main SD blade...
 
mate - you wouldn't have to stick anyone with. Just wave it and it will put the willies up most people !!

sharpening that nm grind is just like sharpening any other recurve. its especially easy if you use a sharpmaker.
