"Thoughts on the Chris Reeve Cult..."

I think the title pretty much sums up what you were trying to say. Why not just ask the posters in the CRK forum rather than coming out here to ask? If you really wanted to know "their" reasons, wouldn't it be a better place to ask? You wanted a reaction or something else, as you already had come to your own conclusion, based on the title.

When you're that good, you're that good. 'Nuff said.

Because I wanted input from everybody on the forum, and lots of folks (like yourself) don't check out every forum or every thread.

As for the title....
Actually, the CR fans here are a bit cult like....

Thoughts on the Chris Reeve Cult . . .

This is a horrible affliction, and the cult should be disbanded. Everyone, stop your silly worshipping of these knives, and if you have a shred of personal selfworth and dignity, take your name off those silly pre-order lists. ;)

The Sebenza has always reminded me of the old checker automobile. Very well made, functional, built to last, but ugly as hell. I'm not opposed to spending $300-$400 bucks on a knife (I've spent more on customs) but when I do I want it to look like a $300-$400 knife. Just my 2 cents, of course-no offense intended towards those who think Sebenza's have hung the moon.

crk - busse-spyderco-
they all have a following of lunatics-so what

just watch out for the busse guys they are misserable pricks because they think you want the knife they want, stab you in the back in a instant-

crk guys are easy going, they know another will eventually come down the pike,so they just roll along and enjoy crk pieces -

the spyderco guys, they are the tight fisted cheapwads of all lunatics, because of spydercos price range they try and get 1 of everything ,remember to check your wallet after you talk to one-

ive been on the busse forums for about a year, and have never experienced anything like what you mention. quite the contrary, always helpful, polite, and supportive of each other.
the only time i have seen it get crazy is ganza time, but those participating know what to expect and i feel it is half the fun.

looks like your trolling to me.:thumbdn:

Better throw a smiley or two in there mister. :D Where's a finger waving smiley when you need it?

For the record, I got it.:)

Cult may be too strong a word. I've spent plenty of money on customs but I always seem to come back to my trusty Sebenza (in its various varieties) as the knife that I prefer to use and collect. I'm a city boy and it works well for my purposes. I'm not in law enforcement or a firefighter and don't feel the need to carry a folder to breakdown a wall or pry into a car door. Reeve and company has been good to me and has earned my trust. Their products IMHO are very well made and I have no hesitation to buy their products sight unseen. I have faith that their new folder will be excellent and if I'm not thrilled with it I have faith that they will make it right and/or I can sell the knife with little or no loss. They don't require an upfront deposit so when the time comes my knife is ready and I don't have the funds I can decline or I'm sure they would hold the knife for me and let me make payments. I don't have blind faith in CRK they have earned my trust and I have no reservations about buying their products. So if someone wants to classify me as a CRK cult member then so be it and I'm proud to be in that category!  ;) :D

I was going to take offense to this, but then I thought about it and realized it's true. I AM a tightfisted cheapwad:D

Not one person that I know that is a Busse fanatic is a miserable prick. I guess I just don't get around enough.

Yeah, $300 or so is pretty expensive for a production knife.

Can't call it overpriced, though. Plenty of people are willing to pay it.
A lot of them are folks who know something about knives. Some of them are folks who are pretty careful with their money.

Are Corvettes overpriced? How about Jaguars, Mercedes, etc...
