Thoughts on the pink Delica

I huridly went thur my treasure chest and found that I have a Pink Jester and a Lime Green Jester. Both never carried, NIB. I also found my old Blue Ladybug CE. I think there is some truth in the small knives being carried the most on a keyring. I am thinking of putting my Ladybug on my keyring. I found that I can open the Jesters with one hand but I cannot open my Ladybug with one hand. Tho both the Jester and the Ladybug are about the same size and shape, the Jester has the bigger hole and the location is a little different than the Ladybug hole. But either one is great to carry on a keychain. I like my Dragonfly and my Cricket FRN for a small knife. I'll try my Ladybug and see if I like it also. :)

...or how 'bout a pink FRN Kiwi?

I know it would require a new mold, but I bet that mold could be used again.
I was thinking of this too. I thought that a FRN kiwi was somewhere in the pipeline.
As for Breast Cancer Support, I'm in. I just found out a mother in my daughter's dance studio has just been diagnosed. Only one year older than me :(

I still think the Ladybug and Jester are just too small, so I'll just have to agree to disagree.

The Dragonfly, as mentioned before, does seem to be the proper compromise.

Allen.

Lots of good ideas here.

VultureParade made a good case for the Delica, but I still think the "edge" goes to the keychain sized knives, with the Ladybug still my favorite.

This would be Spyderco's first take on a "BCA" knife, so keeping the cost down and the knife small and "female-friendly" should be paramount, IMO. Also, I'd love the Ladybug/Photon II combo, but that would add a comparatively large chunk of change to the equation. I'm not sure it's practical.

Another thought:

If the ribbon/lanyard device turns out to be impractical, some kind of BCA pin could be included with the knife as a set.

Where'd Sal go? :p

Karl

I like the Dragonfly or the Delica as the platform for this "pink project". I'm in if it's a BCA program.

Seems that pink Delicas were recommended as EDC's years ago by one of the original SD trainers...

Yep these are all just our opinions. The market gets the final say on who's right and who's wrong. If we could predict that well we'd all be the most sought after marketers around. :)

Whatever one put me down for one,ok three.

Thanks guys.

Maybe the "pink ribbon" could be part of the handle design, like the "Clipit Delica" logo.

What do you think Sal?

Allen.

EXCELLENT idea. If that flies, perhaps to be followed by a run of yellow LIVESTRONG Delicas, or Jesters, or...?? (Smaller knives might make a better price point for fund raising.) benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation, then... The possibilities are endless. I do a century bike ride every year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society- Our colors are purple and green- That could be tough in an FRN handle :D - but my point is that a pink breast cancer Delica or a yellow Lance Delica could be excellent fund-raising tools. Those organizations have great infrastructures already in place. It's kind of a win-win: The donation in addition to the purchase price is usually tax-deductible

Anything I can do to help this along, I'm there! If they're specially logoed Jesters or Ladybugs, I'd also probably be in for 50-100 to use in my fundraising efforts.

Between breast cancer, lymphoma, Hodgkins and prostate cancer, I have too many friends and family aflicted NOT to act!

I'm still listening.

The Photon wouldbe nice, but we have to make 5,000 pieces at a time and I'd be cautious about investing in 5,000 pink lights.

I think it has to be cost effective. High line is nice, but expensive for the "impulse" buy.

We've never made a pink dragonfly, so the newness" would have an advantage. I'll have to run it by the girls in the shop.

I like to watch these threads for a while before moving. I've moved on threads like this in the past only to find the support wasn't as strong as we'd thought.

The Dragonfly might be a good choice indeed, and with no previous pink ones it is a tempting project!

Keep an eye on this thread, Sal! BTW, I asked two women at work (security--one is our secretary and the other is a dispatcher) and they thought it was a good idea.

My wife, Gail, suggested a pink K04 utility or a K05 small utility kitchen knife. She felt that a kitchen knife would go over better with the women.

If you're worried about the support on this project... could always pre-order and pre-pay... I'd have no problem sending off my donation early.

Maybe reintroduce the K05 PE. I've been wanting to get another for my wife and they are no longer around. They would probably be more visable too with the pink handle sticking out of the block. Then they could explained why they are pink.

Maybe some women: I do pretty much all the cooking and food prep in our kitchen, so buying my wife a kitchen knife is like Homer buying Marge a bowling ball drilled for Homer's fingers and with the name "Homer" engraved on it. ;)

"Welll, Marge, if you aren't using it..."

I will always be tempted by a spyderco offered with an unusual handle color. I have two blue dodos, for instance.

I would love to own a pink delica. Better yet, a pink endura.

A pink kitchen knife for women sounds a little sexist to me...

Pink kitchen knife?

My wife says "Very 1950's of him". And she was'nt smiling when she said it.

I did'nt think it was such a bad idea--but you could carry the Dragonfly everywhere you go.

Allen.

I don't think it's a bad idea so much as a completely different application that may or may not be appropriate on an individual basis.

My wife would probably rather have the Dragonfly/Delica/Jester EDC. My mother-in-law (a breast cancer survivor), given a choice, would probably opt for the kitchen knife.

What he said, depending on price. If it gets an OK, right now, I think I can make it. :D But in a week, IDK.
