Thoughts on the pink Delica

Any new developments in fund-raising info or color/design ideas? This seems like a really cool idea; it'd be a shame for it to fizzle out.

As much as I like the idea of a pink Delica or Dragonfly, the Pride with the Pink Ribbon logo would probably be the best solution for Spyderco.

And the Pride does have a friendly design, and anyone can "work" a slip-joint.

But I would like to see better blade-steel (like VG-10).

Thanks,
Allen.

Just a though from my random mind.

instead of trying to attach a ribon To the knife or something make the knife the ribbon. you could do a balisong style but small, using the ladybug blade. basically just split The ribon in half . i think that would be sweet, especially if you made it tight enough to not be able to flip so i could possibly get one in canada,eh.

my other idea would be just to put the blad in the ribbon, ie: a ribon shaped handel.

either way i will buy one of whatever form the breast cancer knife takes shape as my mom beat breast cancer when i was 5.
great ideas guys

The ribbon shaped handle is a cool idea, Flip. The downside is it would require a new mold and be more costly than an existing mold's color change.

I've contacted a local fundraising agency through OSU, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'll follow up as best I can and then forward the info to Sal when I get anything solid.

These might be the people to contact:
http://www.komen.org/

Here's info on their corporate partnerships:

They are major players in breast cancer fundraising.

I just noticed the toilet paper in our bathroom has a notice that every Quilted Northern proof of purchase mailed in means they will donate $0.50 to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. They do a ton of this stuff. I bet they'll be quite receptive.

shame its tha only way i can get my wife to carry a little knife for utility purposes ,everything has to be pink
so a pink dragonfly would have been great
and then theres the added bonus of the BCA

It it was not mentioned above, New Graham is selling a knife called the "Miss A". It is a pink Chinese SAK knockoff. Not really a lady's knife in my opinion, better for a girl (as long as she removes this lethal weapon from her backpack before school).

I like the dragonfly and cricket and think it would be more acceptable for NKP (in teh UK at least).
Maybe do a smaller non locking folder with a pink handle. I'm not sure if it might cause more problems then doing it with an existing model though.

I really like this idea

Count me in for at least two of these, the GF has been eyeing the Dragonfly and with the sale benefiting Breast Cancer research why not by two :D

Will be keeping an eye on this topic

Thx for listening Sal

I do not know about the "Pride" thing and the color "pink"........ might send out a different sort of message..... --- If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..... :p

The pink Jester is already there - Nice size and no re-creating the wheel...if one wanted to add a little something to show what it is for you always could...

Just some thoughts

Ah, the pink Delica. Next to my Bladeforums Blue G10 Native, this was my favorite knife.

Then I left it on top of the car when leaving Radio Shack one night. I got home, realized what I'd done and drove the 2 blocks back to the store immediately. It was gone.

Now the ones left in circulation are too rich for my poor blood.

I *need* this.

No kidding. I saw one on ebay and thought "cool! I am going to bid $50 if I have to!" because older delicas usually don't go for more than about 35. The pink one, with a nice plain edge, went for over $100. Um, no.

I'd still be in for some of these. I also know quite a few people that would probably want one themselves or receive them as gifts when my funds allow.

There probably still isn't much hope for a pink Dodo, Manix, or mini-Manix is there? :D

I can definately say that I would buy at least one of the pink delicas or lady bugs. I finally got my wife to start carrying a pink jester a couple of years ago and I would love to give her a new knife of increased size. Some of the more complicated cutting tasks need a little larger handle for safety reasons. Although unlike me she has yet to cut herself. With regard to the pink kitchen knife she would absolutely be thrilled to have one. I just dont think it a good idea for the BCA.

I love this whole idea. Not sure I'd have the chutzpah to suggest to spyderco that not only they make a special run of my idea, but also give any potential profits to charity, but since someone else broached the subject :)

I got my wife a pink delica both from the initial runs (late '80s?) and the later mid-90s run. They are her favorite knives. For that reason alone, I'd love to get her another; breast cancer donation would be an added bonus. Something about the pink kitchen knife doesn't sound right to me. I'd be more inclined to go with a delica-or-smaller size knife -- my wife doesn't like knives, but it took me no time at all to convince her a friendly little pink knife would come in handy occasionally.

I do think a ladybug is just too dang small. Would like it to be bigger than that.
