Thoughts on TwoSun knives

While I've not spent that kind of spinach on knives, I've spent a lot, bought and sold/traded a lot. Twosun have interested me for some time, but I always hesitated because of the distributors they use. I've owned everything from sak's to a $650 Brian Tighe, and the 3 of the knives I bought in 2021 were damascus Civivi. I love them.

My other hesitation is that if you look at them on Amazon, there is an exact copy of a Strider SnG for sale. I'm not cool with that, even if it does take away sale from tricky Mickey.

Are you saying that TwoSun copied a design or that one of their distributors is also carrying a knife like that?

Copied. There is a review of it on the zon with pics comparing it to a real Strider.

Exact copy, no ifs ands or buts.

I found the listing, and I don't think that knife is made by TwoSun. It's just a SNG knockoff that's being sold by a dealer that sells TwoSun. I think the listed manufacturer is an error.
Could be. However, if a company selling TwoSun is also dealing in counterfeits, it again sours my impression of company.

Thanks. I looked at the knife. I think the others who commented are correct. This does not appear to be a TwoSun knife, does not carry a TwoSun logo, and does not have a regular TwoSun model number. I'm guessing that the seller just posted it as a "TwoSun", since that is a recently popular brand and might trick people into trusting it.

MolokaiRider MolokaiRider has a good point about Eafengrow, or as LTK has called them: "Eafen Liars". Eafengrow is an unscrupulous rebranding distributor that gets unlabeled knives stamped with their logo and whatever steel they think will sell. For instance, they might take a $5 folder in 5Cr15, stamp it "D2", and sell it for $25. Well, their existing distribution channel on Amazon also put them in a position to import some genuine products from CH Knives. CH Knives are legit and Eafengrow was their exclusive door to Western markets for at least a few years.

There are all sorts of bad actors in the market. For all we know, anyone could become a distributor for TwoSun and who knows if the manufacturer even knows about it. For what it's worth, I'll PM whoever runs their Instagram account. They haven't posted in over a month though so who knows. Does TwoSun even have an English website?

I'm going to continue to hold out. If I find them on more mainstream companies websites I'll consider them, but I don't trust the zon or ebay.

They are sold at my favorite New Hampshire knife store but that store is not a supporting member here.

White Mountain Knives have 7 pages with Open Box/Returns, mostly TS and other Chinese brands,
also some Cold Steel and Boker models, it's a great indication about the quality of the brands.

I noticed much the same. If I'm going to buy Chinese, I'm going to stick with WE/Civivi, Reate, Kizer, Bestech. I just ordered a Civivi Appalachian drifter 2 CF/Snakeskin micarta.

I own one TS knife, purchased from an American retailer. Just had to see what they are all about. I can't remember the model number off hand, but it is a titanium framelock with micarta overlays. 14C28N blade steel. I must say that I was surprised at the quality for the $80 price point. I has excellent action, fit and finish. There is a smooth drop, and no hint of play in any direction. It event has a detent ramp, which is rare from any company. I haven't done a ton of cutting w/ the 14C, but it is certainly thin behind the edge and takes a keen edge like 14C. It is a really (again, surprisingly) well done knife. All of that said, I wasn't aware of clones coming out of that factory. I'm firmly against any of that garbage. So if that's true, not sure I can support or recommend that company.

Good point, and agreed. Mine is great, but is a sample size of exactly one, haha. And not to get on a tangent, but I will never again buy a Boker Plus after getting burned multiple times on their QC. Great designs, horrible execution.

Never a hint of this on their Ebay listings I've seen . :(

If fact many of them have designer logos on the blades .

That's not really how it works though, it's not TwoSun that set the trend of knockoff vendors using a variety of popular knife terms in their listings whether they apply to the knife or not. And any swinging Dick can sell knives on Amazon or wherever it was you were looking, it's far more of an indictment on them as a retail platform than anything else.
