Thoughts on WE Knife?

Hello fellow knife knuts,

I’ve been thinking about purchasing one of these for a while. I know that in general, knives made in China (most things made in China - excpet iPhone) get a bad rap. However, with great examples of quality and partnerships with well-known knife makers, this seems to be improving for brands like Reate. With that in mind, and the controversy part aside, what do you all think about the construction and value of WE Knives? Specifically, I am speaking to their less polarizing models. If they were made in Russia or some other reputable country would you have a different opinion?

Full transparency on my part: I have worked for Chinese companies in telecom for the past 7 years and have spent a good amount of time in China, so I may be a bit more open to the idea than most. I've seen some top notch factories and have learned to realize that not everyone is running a copy-shop, and that there are true artisans who care and are making high quality products (across many industries).

Debate....... ;)
 
If the knife is well made, I personally don't care where it is made. Russia and Japan both make great knives. Would not be surprised that China does as well. Variety is good.
 
There are a lot of threads on this company.

That being said, WE Knives makes very high quality stuff, you're unlikely to be dissatisfied with the quality on any of their blades.
 
I have 2 and cannot find any flaws on either one.
Excellent flippers with extremely smooth action, both perfectly centered, both feel great in hand and they had very even and screaming sharp edges out of the box!!
What came to mind for me was it's like they thought of everything we would want in a high end flipper.....and did it very well!

Here is another Chinese made cool blade!
Kizer Nomad. Very well made!! Just a hair below the WE knives.

WE makes good stuff if you are willing to pay the price. I handled some of them at the 2016 Blade Show. I'm just not "into" metal scales.
 
I had a WE Knife Co 605I. Impressively snappy little flipper. Was very smooth and felt nice and solid. The black blade finish wasn't great but overall I really liked the knife. Sadly, I sold it to fund another purchase. I regret selling it.
 
I've heard really nice things about them. The quality I hear is top notch.
 
One of the big issues that people have pointed out has been the proprietary screws. Nick Shabazz said that they announced on Instagram that they are going to regular screws.

I personally like their screws.
Each knife comes with the tool.
Just make sure you don't loose it.

If they come with the tool, I really don't mind proprietary fasteners......and they do.
 
I tend to agree as well. They certainly look better. I could see being annoyed if I misplaced the tool though....and I misplace a lot of shit so says my wife ;). I tell her that I intentionally hide it from myself to stay sharp.

Love it!!
The trick is to buy a couple of their knives......this way you have extra tools!!!
At least that's what I told myself!

In my defense......I only push knives that have impressed me! At least that's how I justify it!!

PS.......wait till you play with that full size Guardian Tac!!!!
